Take That concert on Thursday - Will it go ahead?

I've been really looking forward to this but it's giving me such anxiety now. I spent a lot of money so don't want to just not go and forfeit the money. Would they cancel it? It can't be safe to have thousands of people there in such intense heat?

It isn’t a leap at all, like I said it was a brilliant show but it was like watching a concert on the Sun, I think a lot of people, especially in the standing section struggled with it.

It was incredible, we left before the encore although we could hear it. Out and back in the car within 15 mins

Have you never been to a gig?

Even once they start you are interrupted constantly by people who can’t sit on their arse for 2 hours.

I saw two 'medical emergencies' on the way back to Pudding Mill Lane, 2 people on the ground being tended by paramedics.
I imagine the heat played a part, although alcohol may be a factor as well. It always amazes me just how much some people drink at gigs.

Sitting on your arse for two hours at a music gig is very much a new phenomenon.

I went to see Metallica last night standing. So many people were pushing past me getting drinks going for a wee pushing forward to get closer to the front pushing back when the mosh pit started right in front of me then running past to join the mosh pit. Was constant movement 🤣🤣

tbh took my daughter to the theatre to see the greatest showman. We were sat on the end of the row and the people next to us were constantly up for a beer and then a wee which really annoyed me. When they came back during the interval the main offender said smiling I’m sorry we must be really annoying so I said yes you are actually really cross. They didn’t move for the second half 🤣🤣

I expect movement in gigs love the energy when standing. Do not expect it in a theatre.

In a crowd of that number at any time of the year, how many people do you think have a heart attack, stroke, sickness, fall over and twist their ankle/break their leg

This is all common stuff anyway let alone when you have a big crowd together, why assume its all heat related. Some of it might have been, some people might have overdone it with alcohol, it happens. Why would you cancel?

We were high up on Saturday night, I didnt feel particularly hot, it was hot, but not unbearable.

Well I used the loo several times and needed drinks

I wouldn’t have cancelled I’m just pointing out it was ridiculously hot, Friday wasn’t just a normal summer’s day it was 37 degrees! Gary Barlow had to take his jacket off and Howard said on his Instagram that it was a challenge to preform in such heat.

I find it fascinating. We were in the hydro in Glasgow one time quite high up and it was like ants on the lower tiers scurrying everywhere! Unfortunately I also find in the theatre arriving late and getting up and down like a tart’s drawers also seems to be accepted these days

Re the heat on Friday night.

I was seated in a great position, the first row on the second level, so about 1/3 of the way up, to be able to see all of GA. One member of the public was taken away by wheelchair before TT came on. Obviously don’t know if this was due to the heat or not! There was another sitting where we saw First Aid Responders run to the crowd.

Did TT have water in their set in the cooler weather or was this put in place due to the heatwave?

SmartWater was reduced on site from £4.20 to £2.10 per bottle. Bags were permitted to be bigger than the usual A4 size to accommodate handheld fans etc (I even took a face cloth) and hard water bottles such as Stanleys were allowed.

Saturday night was very different to Thursday and Friday. The temperature had started to come down that day.

Also there on Friday. In seats though, I think I would have particularly struggled with standing for that amount of time and in more direct sun comparatively to seats as was a little bit up so covered somewhat (funnily enough had to change days and had previously been standing so glad got seats!) Yes it was hot but with sensible precautions was manageable and accepted that everyone was going to be hot and sweaty 😂 We were allowed to take our own bottles which was a game changer (why don’t they do it all the time?!) and handheld fans etc, and went several times to refill, kept hydrated, put sun cream on, and took a sit break every now and then. 100% worth it! 🎪
