A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

if KS, RR and BP go, I shall be breaking out the bubbles. The worst trio of sneering out of touch politicians I can recall.

Back in my long ago student days, we used to have a naive hope that the world was getting better, and we would say things like "Jesus, Wes Streeting is awful, the next NUS president surely can't be any worse"

They were always worse.

I believe in that case it reaches PhD levels of intellect 😅

SapphireCasino · 19/06/2026 16:56

Just catching up

Blimey, being on holiday is tiring 😂

Quite nice so far

The first thing that worries me about today's result is... Ed Miliband

I won't ask why we're not supposed to use Kemi's first name, that sounds baffling

DenizenOfAisleOfShame · 19/06/2026 17:00

Ok, so I know this is obvious. But it’s really only hit me fully now that Burnham is confirmed as an MP…

Labour is so shit, so devoid of talent, that no MP from the 400+ they have could dislodge the utterly useless Starmer. So they’re pinning their hopes on a man who hasn’t been at Westminster for 9 years, has no even half-decent track record to boast of from his time in government (which ended 16 years ago), and has nothing of any consequence to offer from being mayor of Manchester.

It does feel a bit weird TBH. Yesterday’s Mr Mediocre being puffed as a political superstar. A bit like as if John Selwyn Gummer had ridden in from a by-election to challenge Boris Johnson.

If you want a giggle I came across this on YouTube. Warning the language is fruity.

And isn’t that going to be the issue in a nutshell - and why AB appointing the ultimate insider, Ed M is likely…or, having to keep too many of the current talentless mob in position.

justasking111 · 19/06/2026 17:30

Wouldn't this be funny David as Foreign Secretary.

David is the correct Miliband. The bloody unions were idiots.

Yes, they were. I don't think they'll get him back on side.

Me neither. Why would they? He's doing just fine where he is. Unless he REALLY hates Ed and would see it as good sport! 🤣🤣

It would liven up family gatherings. Might be enough to tempt him?

SapphireCasino · 19/06/2026 17:57

clip of Count Binface is funny

Did anyone see anything from the count? Did all the candidates shake his hand? Credit where it's due, Sadiq Khan did shake his hand and have a proper exchange after the London mayoral election

You could see him try not to laugh but you could also see that he realises it's an important part of democracy - I think he said as much to Count Binface.

CaveMum · 19/06/2026 18:25

Couple of points:

Listened to the TRIP Emergency Pod - RS thinks Keir is “doing a Biden” - ie totally deluded but clinging on egged on by those around him who want to keep their jobs.

I would love to see the back of Reeves and Phillipson, my biggest concern is that Red Ed is being touted as Chancellor under Burnham. It’s an open secret that he is desperate to get in the treasury.

You lot are one of my ports of sanity on this site (along with the long-running Trump threads). I know my personal brand of politics is not in line with a lot of posters here, but the fact we can all talk about it like grown ups, agree to disagree and affectionately take the piss out of each other means you are definitely My Tribe™️

Final thought before I disappear to make dinner - this post on X made me guffaw 🤣

I've never quite understood Count Binface, but I recognise that he's now established himself as part of the landscape.

Perhaps he needs to make it clear that he, as a serious player, isn't going to form pacts with joke politicians like Howling Laud Hope or Rupert Lowe.

Their desperation to find a 'clean skin' is an admittance of how appalling they have been. Embarrassing.
