A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

Now we'll get Andy Burnham and he is so far left. He wants to nationalise everything. He wants to tax workers even more than RR and hand out even more benefits.

Why can’t we have nice things too?

Looks fantastic doesn't it. But Labour prefer ideology to improved care. I heard Liz Kendall banging on about them being right wing etc, like that matters when you're at death's door ffs.

See also the Met Police. Sadiq Khan blocked their contract with Palantir.

Nutchatch as you know I was a member of the Conservative Party from 1993-2024. I canvased for them across most of the North-West in 97-2005 my DH was a potential Parliamentary Conservative Candidate for a North West Constituency . Thus, I know how great a scalp any Scottish Seat is in a By-Election or GE is for the Conservative party. So excuse me this morning, I was to say the least 'Pissed off' that Andy Burnham has somehow managed to get 6,000 extra votes from normally those who cannot be 'arsed' to get off their backside and go to a Polling station ! What these voters actually think Andy is going to do for them 'God only knows'. Though apparently according to Ex Clitheroe MP and Deputy Speaker Nigel Evans some supposedly Conservative voters voted for our 'Andy'. It is this kind of Personality voting that will ensure, the right is in opposition for a decade. In which case 1984 and George Orwell's considerations might be described as the state employing a 'light touch' of control over the Populus.

People like me and Andrew Rosindale are true conservatives, who bleed blue but understand the right has got to get together because the stakes are to high for all of us ! It is not acceptable because people think Nigel Farage is a 'Shyster' to vote Labour or Lib Dem to keep him out but profess to be Conservative in voting intention.

Precisely. We are cutting off our nose to spite our face. Innovation is the only painless way out of our economic death spiral, but we seem hellbent on refusing every opportunity for the sake of vanity and pandering to the far left.

justasking111 · 19/06/2026 21:34

DH has a theory talking to other old farts at his watering holes that people voted for Burnham to kick Bollard out of the nest, they loathe him and his dubious associates so much.

PaperTyger · 19/06/2026 22:03

So, he said he wants to do lots of change but none of us have voted for him or his kind of change. Does that mean a general election ?

I doubt it. I think they'll dig in.

The change they want is not exactly what everyone else wants these bloody imbeciles are killing this country

The likely makeup of a Burnham cabinet is amusingly grotesque and indicates exactly why his premiership looks doomed before it starts. The New Statesman has breathily anointed Harriet Harman protégé Miatta Fahnbulleh as ‘the brains behind Burnham’, which is like naming someone the moral guide behind Boris Johnson or the personality guru behind Keir Starmer. Meanwhile, Sheffield’s answer to the Artful Dodger, Louise Haigh, has been given the mandatory Fabian bob-cut in preparation of a return to government. Another member of the inner sanctum is Anneliese Midgley, who as a measure of her depth as a politician, recently called for the Netflix show Adolescence to be screened in all British schools. Meanwhile, Labour insiders are talking about Ed Miliband in Number 11, which will give hope to lunatics with asylum-running ambitions everywhere.

LOL. It’s terrifying frankly, but you’ve got to laugh. Great descriptions!

Pacificwave · 20/06/2026 21:13

I very much agree with this opinion, we need to pull our socks up- no one is coming to save us.

BBC and telegraph reporting Keir now set to resign, possibly as soon as Monday. Drift of support away has been made clear today.

We've been told that before. I'll believe it when it happens.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 20/06/2026 22:17

I think he will this time, but could be wrong! Tough to carry on if you have zero support.

I'd think he was threatened with the entire Cabinet resigning if he didn't go.

Parsley4321 · 21/06/2026 02:20

God I would love love love to see the whole cabinet resign

It's hilarious how so many posters on the left ignore it when you post this on MN. They go on and on at anyone (particularly anyone who is, or perceived to be, right-leaning) who says a GE should happen, telling them it's not how it works. But when you post Angela's wisdom on the matter re Sunak, they totally ignore it! 🤷‍♀️🤣

if KS, RR and BP go, I shall be breaking out the bubbles. The worst trio of sneering out of touch politicians I can recall.

Can I join please? I've followed this thread for ages.

I'm following Piggy's demise with huge enjoyment, the trouble is I think we're in for a lot worse which is quite depressing. I keep reading that Louise Haigh will be in Burnham's cabinet. THE WOMAN HAS A CONVICTION FOR FRAUD!! Is it too much to ask that our MP's are just not criminals? I've pretty much given up hoping that they might have some economic and political nous but really convicted criminals?

They're terrified at the prospect of an early GE after waiting so long for their chance. Hopefully, AB will continue Starmer's good work to date and ensure they only get a single (ideally short) term and then return to the wilderness for the foreseeable. Some of the Starmer fawning on here is utterly ludicrous.
