A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour* *government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

The new chancellor is going to face to unpick the holy mess Reeves has made. Don't envy them that job!

Do any of them have the eccomic creds and intelligence to even see where she went wrong ? It's such an important job surely there should be the highest threshold and experience to do it ??

I'm hoping there's <somebody> who's capable, for all our sakes!

Yup, Reeves has been utterly awful and incompetent. Got to hope that Burnham has someone lined up who will actually bother to understand the job, do lots of research and not be blinkered by sixth form level politics of envy! Lets hope it's not Miliband - now that would be a disaster.

If they tax workers more hospitality isn't going to survive. Because whatever little spare cash people already have will be gone.
If they touch workers before welfare and some of the rich pensioners they may as well call a general election.

They made such a song and dance over no tax rises on working people they’ll be toast if they try it.

I notice threads with some clamouring for higher taxes already, it didn’t take long.

Don't forget pension skimming at 40% and taxing ISAs

They all need to get a grip! He wasn't the messiah, he was a rather mediocre bloke who wasn't adept at politics. Never mind, move on.

A lot of MN Labour posters gushed about Starmer after the election, defended him for mishap after mishap, fawned over his performance at PMQs for no discernible reason, and generally presented him as Mr Righteous & Capable.

Now they have to give the man a laughably false eulogy at his political funeral because they’d look foolish if they admitted they were horribly wrong all along.

It’s always worth considering the other side’s criticisms of leaders and senior figures and trying to be objective, and accepting that all politicians have feet of clay. But the left are so convinced of their and their politicians’ moral and intellectual superiority that they’re incapable of doing that.

Having both Reeves and Starmer out would improve the quality of government speech no end. What a bonus!

Bridget for the hat-trick? 🙏🏻

Hello Placey! Nice to see you back again.

How’s this chaos-free government going down among the Labour faithful?

Well obviously none of us know who the previous chancellors are. We need educating. 🙄

Some are struggling aren’t they. So glad Kemi is lasting longer. A few were sure he would.

I really hope he doesn't! 😫

Parsley4321 · Today 07:01

It is quite unbelievable we have had more prime ministers in 10 years than since Wilson.
Also where is all the froth about Starmer ? I can’t find it
A small interjection completely off piste however for the love of god all the bloody shite about the Fury’s.
If only Tyson had dug in and said Venuesula is staying on at school getting an education which he wanted and which her mum vetoed what a role model for travellers instead of marrying a genie in the bottle at 16 fux sake

Middlerage · Today 07:15

I know, not very nice of me but I did enjoy the footage of Reeves ingratiating herself with AB yesterday and looking supremely uncomfortable. AB should only save the people that resigned on principle…

Middlerage · Today 07:17

My dd’s original friendship gang at school was 5 lovely little girls and now, as of this summer it’s down to 2. Without Labour, they’d have gone straight through together.

Parsley4321 · Today 07:23

Starmers wife looked like she had been crying all weekend

Middlerage · Today 07:26

It’s true if it was your husband or wife you’d be very sad for them - but he will probably be able to do what he said and spend the whole summer with them. He’s missed a lot of important occasions. No doubt there’s a friend with a holiday home somewhere nice.

Caught Sarah Vine on a podcast with Hitchens last night. Talking about the turnover of prime ministers.

He said in Thatchers day cabinet meetings were brainstorming sessions, which could get fierce but they stayed at the table until it was hammered out. Thatcher steering the ship. They didn't flounce there was far less media watching their every move.

Vine said similar that the media and social media were out of control second guessing, being savage about MPs which affected their performance and reaction to issues. Few ministers can withstand that constant battering and twisting of facts.

They spin in the wind. They're the ones who should be banned from reading social media. It cuts deeply for their families.

Pacificwave · Today 08:08

What was the title of the podcast? It sounds worth a listen.

Middlerage · Today 08:11

I follow my local MP on Facebook - everything they post gets hate posts.
