Am I missing key shower steps or is hygiene tok excessive?

I’ve been watching hygiene tok and now wondering if I’ve not been showering myself properly all my life.

Saw a woman who uses an unscented bar soap for sensitive areas, antibacterial bar soap for smelly areas, then a body scrub, then a shower gel applied with a African net sponge, then lightly dries herself and applies body oil, then a body lotion, then a glycolic acid treatment under arms and under boobs and then FINALLY clinical strength deodorant. The video was called something like ‘how to not stink this summer’. I’ve never even done half those steps in one shower. I shower at least daily using a bar soap/shower gel and I do exfoliate every other day.

am I missing something?!

I use shampoo on my hair, olive oil bar soap on my face and body (including vulva, pits, underboob etc), dry myself and put deodorant on. I shower daily. I'm clean as a whistle and smell great. Nothing further required.

You understand dead skin removes itself? It is a self-renewing tissue. You don’t need to remove each dead cell by hand.

Your skin is constantly renewing but the dead skin cells don’t always fall off themselves in a reasonable timescale and this is what causes dry looking or flakey skin. That’s what many people like to exfoliate off.

Bar of unscented Simple soap and a clean, fresh flannel in the shower. Moisterise. Face cleaned separately to body, out of shower. Moisturise. Anti-persperent. Done. And not dusted.

I'm sure most people manage fine with the basics...soap, water, shampoo and conditioner, deodorant (moisturiser if you are feeling fancy!).
Chances are most of us will sweat and start to smell of BO this summer. As long as you wash daily then it's all good. Clean sweat smells fairly neutral to me, it's just when it's stale that you get whiff!

Obsessive hygiene-freak stuff. Ignore!
