Am I missing key shower steps or is hygiene tok excessive?

I’ve been watching hygiene tok and now wondering if I’ve not been showering myself properly all my life.

Saw a woman who uses an unscented bar soap for sensitive areas, antibacterial bar soap for smelly areas, then a body scrub, then a shower gel applied with a African net sponge, then lightly dries herself and applies body oil, then a body lotion, then a glycolic acid treatment under arms and under boobs and then FINALLY clinical strength deodorant. The video was called something like ‘how to not stink this summer’. I’ve never even done half those steps in one shower. I shower at least daily using a bar soap/shower gel and I do exfoliate every other day.

am I missing something?!

I don't use anything but the shower head water sprayed up there.

I use a loofah, with shower gel, water in lady bits.
i have ceased to buy shampoo and conditioner ( use bio D handwash), nor do I use moisturiser, 1000 mg of flaxseed oil capsules works wonders

What you're missing is that she's paid to promote all that crapola by giving viewers the idea that without it they'll stink.

And nobody - nobody - needs antimicrobial soap. It wreaks havoc on the environment and on the human biome.

I use it sometimes, it’s recommended by a medical professional for my armpits for a medical issue

As I said, I do understand most of this is affiliate links/money making etc but there are plenty of ‘regular’ folk who are agreeing and adding steps in the comments of these videos. And looks like some people on this thread follow a similar wash routine…

I also don’t do this but consider myself super clean. But there are women who do this and yes their skin is amazing, shiny and they truly do smell different to the rest of us.

I just use shampoo and soap in the shower.
Slap on moisturiser afterwards if I can be bothered.

I’m excessive with my routine but I’m not that bad! Cleanse with a shower gel or a soap or a shower oil, then I lotion or oil when I’m dry depending on what I feel like. Antiperspirant and then get dressed.

But bathing in Dettol antiseptic is just as bad, why would you do that to your microbiome?

I wouldn't let talc anywhere near me or my kids either.

Any shower gel that was on special. Do hair, body, pits and bits, then shaving with the same shower gel. Rinse. Get out of shower.
Spray up with whichever anti-p was on offer. Done. No one has ever complained.

Looking like you’ve been dunked in your nanna’s chip pan wouldn’t be the aesthetic I’d be going for.

Shampoo and conditioner for hair, soap and a flannel for everywhere else, rinse off suds. I’m in the shower less than 10 minutes. What a waste of time, water, products and good skin cells to be doing all that on the daily.

An African net is like a piece of loofa for washing and exfoliating, not sure what the when they’re at home is supposed to mean though?
