Thankfully Jeffrey Donaldson is a white, male paedophile, so there'll be no riots tonight.

When I went to NI a couple of years ago there was a lot of quite overt support for him in some of the more off the beaten track villages .

I don't doubt that at all. His defence barrister whittled it down to who do you believe the words of the two women or those of Sir Jeffrey.

The jury delivered they believed the two women on all counts. Including Lady Donaldson, who cannot be placed in jail.

Apparently it was the wrong one....

There's a metaphor there somewhere.

What a revolting specimen.

And this talk of climate change reminds me to withdraw my tax, ready for the next thread.

Anyone have any remaining specimens who are trying to style out the second 40+C heatwave in 4 years as evidence that the climate doesn't change ?

TemperanceWest · 22/06/2026 14:36

There are no words really.

Oh there are plenty, when you remember the £10billion the DUP got from Theresa May to prop her up after Brexit.

There's several threads of it, already. Just a bit of warm weather, 1976, Dubai... My bingo card is almost full.

DH has to head down in your general direction on Wednesday, while I get to stay up in the relative cool of high 20s. It's overcast and a comfortable though rather humid 22 here, right now. A definite two fingers to the "it's grim, up north" crowd.

Notonthestairs · 22/06/2026 15:38

My area is under the red warning and as hot as it is now it’s going to be 10 degrees hotter by Wednesday.

Cheguevarahamster · 22/06/2026 15:48

Burnham heckled during his signing in. Handled it well though!

"He's not the mesiah".

He's a naughty boy!

PickAChew · 22/06/2026 15:52

It all seemed very good natured. Kemi and a few others will have been 😤 though.

BIossomtoes · 22/06/2026 15:54

Assuming he becomes PM it will be interesting to see how he deals with her at PMQs - with good humour and a smile, hopefully.

There's a significant element of the Labour party who are mighty pissed off at MPs for not backing Starmer judging by the backlash to this tweet from ex Haringey leader

https://nitter.net/perayahmet/status/2068787319935569969#m

I give it about a month before the first cries of betrayal from backbench MPs come up.

Probably from Nadia Whittome or Clive Lewis.

Plenty on MN. Unfashionable out in force.

Why would he do that when he becomes PM?

He should treat her with the gravitas she so obviously deserves.

There's no such thing as climate change and the "farmer's tax" during, checks notes, a time when, long pause, audience is a forgetful, 'at a time of climate change', said very quickly

Is incredibly harsh!

It's from the film "Don't look up!". News segment and two presenters. Obviously for balance, one agrees with climate change happening and the other completely denies it.

No guesses as to which presenter has the more balanced opinion.

SerendipityJane · 22/06/2026 16:34

At a quick glance, the thread about the land tax isn't going the way I think it was meant to.

So no rioting or burning buses I presume, vile vile man I hope his victims are being supported.

I see the Burnham-will-do xyz panic mongering threads started by new posters are already appearing.🙄

He'll fill number 10 with ferrets, divert all conversations with foreign powers to talk of steak and ale pie, and force everyone earning above 50,000 a year to surrender their wealth and move into a Gulag in the frozen Northern wastelands known as (shudder) Liverpool.
You thought Rachel Reeves was bad. Just wait till Andy's favourite pigeon is anointed chancellor of the Exchequer

dontcallmelen · 22/06/2026 17:25
