I can have an armchair go at that :-)
Apparently 48 Tomahawk missiles for fired yesterday. An Arleigh Burke destroyer can carry 56 missiles. I think they have 4 or 5 of these destroyers in the area, plus subs that can also launch the missiles. The US have the ability to keep firing Tomahawks at that rate for maybe 5 days or so. After that the ships need to go to a port to be replenished. Assuming the ships were full.
However, US production of Tomahawks are about 100 per year. Production to be ramped up to 1000 per year over the next few years.
So he just fired half a years production in that attack. Worldwide stockpile is usually about 1000. But that has been massively reduced. And there are minimum stocks required.
So it looks to me, from my armchair, that his ceasefire was to re-arm and he just used all the missiles that have replaced what he already used.
Interesting that the aircraft bomb fragments were from small bombs. That says to me they are taking minimal risk to their planes. Send them in light than fast rather than fully loaded to cause max damage. The US has massive stockpiles of conventional bombs, but they used smaller ones. My speculation.
He is terrified, as a PP said, of planes being downed and pilots captured.
