Scotland for me, but I am not even trying to follow the World Cup. I gave up trying to follow/watch international sports yonks ago, because it is just too difficult, if not near impossible.
The country I am in did not qualify. A bit embarrassing for dear Uncle who is a big fan. I did try to watch Uncles team matches in qualifications, but after a record loss to Japan, the games were paywalled. I tried to follow via "text feed" sites, but they started to be blocked.
Even trying to watch the Olympics was a waste of time. Get settled down to watch the curling on the Ipad, few tins in the fridge, instant messaging set up with a fellow fan in another city.... and boom. The schedule says curling, the title on the ipad says curling.... but its speed skating highlights of when X beat Japan. Every move in slow mo with patriotic music with constant cuts to the national flag.
So yeah. When people say they fear Trump making sport "Patriotic", no need to wonder what that will be like. It happens already elsewhere.
Having said all that, perhaps the entire world cup is being broadcast here in all its glory. But can't be arsed. Wrong flag spotted in the crowd.... blip... cut to when X beat Japan in speedskating.
