For balance, maybe we need to link the pro-Trump thread. Just to help fill it up. Think how pleased the Trumpsters would be if they managed a Pro-Trump #2 thread.

Edit... thanks new thread :-)

I have fuck all interest in footie but my heart absolutely goes out to that Somalian ref, refused entry and then FIFA not having the guts to back him.

Seems to me this World Cup caper is going to be an utter shitshow. But, like Manuel, I know nothing, nada.

Thank you for the new thread.

And FIFA have managed to fit "hydration" breaks in. So during each half, stop play and drink water. Just so happens the hydration breaks are the same length of time as commercial breaks.

But its about the game apparently. Not the money.

REP22 · 09/06/2026 11:25

Thanks for the new thread @Spandauer . Wasn't it Dubya who said "I believe human beings and fish can coexist peacefully"...? (and, lord, doesn't he look like a more fitting president by comparison?! That's not a jolly thought).

Perhaps Don-Don would like to join Luca Brasi in eternal slumber with our piscine brethren? May he bleep with the fishes.

logicisall · 09/06/2026 11:31

Thanks for the new thread.
Shame we still have to put up with the old shitshow, but 'two days' have been superseded by 'two or three days". Hope Iran heard him.

Coincidence or something else at work... DT's headline star-feature for his 250th rally is Vanilla Ice - real name Robert van Winkle.

Rip van Winkle is a character in 19thC American fiction who falls asleep for 20 years, and reawakens unconcerned by the political turmoil which happened during his slumbers (Rip Van Winkle - Wikipedia).

Bit weird.

Isn't winkle also a colloquial euphemism for a teeny-weeny-minute dick?
Coincidence upon coincidence! 😂

Ahh... came here for some sanity. On another thread, a pro Reform poster is explaining to me how a Brit going to live in Spain or Dubai is an emigrant, not an immigrant. That Brit's can't be immigrants, because brits are emigrants.

On a different thread, a reform poster is explaining that they can't post the name of someone because their autocorrect changes it.

It's like the point made above. That Dubya looks really smart compared to Trump. I suppose the same can be said re Trump and his Trumpist/Reform base.

logicisall · 09/06/2026 15:20

There's a problem with dumbing down in UK education standards.
Ignorance of status vis a vis the leaving country and the receiving country. 🤐

Yeah - someone just suggested we don’t ’let them in the U.K. - like we don’t let folk into buildings’ 👀

The vitriol is bad enough - but compounded by stupidity it is dreadful.

I like unfashionable people. They keep my groceries cheap.

I disagree.

I think it has always been the same. Indeed, I would say society is more knowledgeable than ever.

It's just that they are posting online now.

And I can't think how to prove that at the moment, so I won't even try. So I will present no evidence at all for my thinking. Can I say "google it".

:-)

It would be unhelpful to suggest that the demand for knowledge has not really kept up with the supply.

@RedTagAlan reminds me of this anecdote from Dubya’s speechwriter
