I remember the nepotism and corruption being used as a small part of the justification for the Iraq war. About how what happened in dictatorships was totally wrong, and that such corruption could not happen in free world democracies.

On the subject of Trump's "post truth era", and how it is spreading, I saw this as I was browsing UK news.

That was Reform MP Suella Braverman, speaking about her time as conservative home sec. She was being interviewed by GB news, because the stabbing suspect in NI was granted asylum while she was Home sec.

"over 90% of asylum claims are approved." That got my spidey senses tingling. Off to government data we go (graph attached) and as expected, grant rate has never been over 90%

And she is in the Temu Trump party that says "trust us, the others lie"'.

Is it deliberate, or an honest mistake ?

My post was sarcastic, regarding Trump and Musk.

I know MH services are barebone. All these things is what UK needs to sort.
But we keep getting this, all is OK, it is only a few racists. But it is not. It is not only a few concerned, it is not only a few angry and it is not racism driving it. It is the sheer state of our services, the massive pressure on what is left and that is not stretching to prevent or address any of this.

The problem is the extremes. One burns houses. The other says we have to stay calm and nothing to be seen here.
