Just for fun so no sarcasm or nastiness please .
My friend and I went to see a West End musical this week . I was really looking forward to it . Great reviews . Celebrity cameos . Camp and fun . Seemed right up our street .
We both hated it . We were turning to each other with puzzled looks and raised eyebrows (we've known each other forever and have very similar tastes so no words needed) .
The audience seemed off their tits to be honest . Screeching at every unsubtle innuendo . Shouting responses to the actors . It was like a really bad hen do .
We left at the interval .
My point is that everyone else seemed to be having a great time . The staff who opened the doors to allow us to leave at the interval were incredulous . I quote : "Are you not enjoying it ?!"
Well no , we weren't . We thought it was shit .
This is a show that is up for lots of awards and has had so many positive reviews .

OP - Strange that you chose a musical because I came here to say Hamilton. We hated it.

Sorry if this is a silly question but did you like any if the songs in Hamilton? I'm not mad about the whole show but I think some of the songs are brilliant

I've always hated Oasis. I actually like a lot of Britpop songs/bands (Suede being my favourite) but I've always found Oasis to be sooo dreary & can't bear the way Liam sings on stage with his hands behind his back just stood there. He may have improved over the years, I don't know. I do actually quite like Noel & Liam's stuff away from Oasis & think they're quite funny in interviews but I have to turn the radio over if one of their songs comes on

I love music and concerts but really dislike musicals for some reason.

Any type of reality show
Mrs Browns Boys
Football
Star Wars, I absolutely can't bear it.

So agree on Star wars , and actually Harry Potter annoys me.

Just thought of another one (don't know if it's been mentioned previously) Dubaii chocolate. Overpriced nonsense like eating chocolate coated chipboard.

Dubai chocolate 🤢

Similarly. .... We Will Rock You. Wanted to see it for years. Love Queen. Thought it was a load of crap.

Love Actually, Bread, Pulled meat

This thread reminds me of the famous Roy Keane quote. “3 things that are overrated, fireworks, parties and smiling”

@OverheardBreakup there’s a UK Superstore?! I loved the US Superstore but had no idea there was a UK one. Also I agree, US The Office is superior, I can’t watch the British one as it’s the wrong side of uncomfortable for me!

Violinist64 · 31/05/2026 19:31

Les Miserables.

Mumandcarer80 · 31/05/2026 19:33

When I was at school it was netball often forgot to pivot such a stupd rule.

Game of Thrones

Sueandthegoldfish · 31/05/2026 19:34

Shein. Tried it once to see what all the fuss was about; delivery took so long that I’d forgotten what I’d ordered and the quality was so utterly rubbish that it went to the charity shop.
And dogs in restaurants. I live in a scenic “walking” part of the country and one of the sells is that dogs are welcome - a local pub/restaurant even has their own two wandering aimlessly around. Following a very severe dog allergy as a child (very much milder now) I’ve had nothing to do with dogs and I don’t want them sitting by my chair when I eat.

This is with most musicals. I've slept through Les Mis, Wicked, Miss Saigon, The Lion king. Nearly every single one.

Chlorpool · 31/05/2026 19:36

Matilda the musical, gave me a headache. Just horrible.

Mrs Browns Boys

I fell asleep watching Mrs Browns Boys, it was dreadful. But it's not a musical.
Was it Priscilla Queen of the Dessert? A friend went to see it recently and the people next to her left at half time.

Puffinsandcoffee · 31/05/2026 19:37

Strictly Come Dancing. I tried it once, and loathed it so much I turned it off about half way through.

ChamonixMountainBum · 31/05/2026 19:38

Mary Berry

Sonolanona · 31/05/2026 19:39

All 'reality' TV shoes... every single one
We will Rock you... what a steaming pile of poo that musical was (and I LOVE musicals)
Hot chocolate. Chocolate should be solid!

Sonolanona · 31/05/2026 19:40

Shows, not shoes, damn it!😂
