As per previous similar threads, I usually have one drink a day, sometimes two, often none. I frequently have it in the morning, and none later. Pint of beer, single rum and coke, sherry, single G&T, wine, anything I fancy. I got into the habit when visiting an alcoholic friend (now dead) who had pints of lager for breakfast every morning in Wetherspoons. I would join them, and have an actual breakfast and a pint. I'm retired/self-employed (very part-time now), so don't need to be stone-cold sober. I did conquer a sizeable drink problem in my 20s, had two separate decades teetotal since, and otherwise have been a very light drinker like now. So quite boring really, though I'm happy with it like that. Nothing about me is hardcore these days I'm afraid, but I enjoyed the comment!

Thanks @BrickBiscuitthsts interesting. I suppose if you’re only having one drink a day, it really doesn’t matter when you have it does it? Metabolically I mean it might be even better earlier so you can work it off ! (Except need for driving/working obviously).

Slice of sourdough with avocado.
An un-iced red velvet cupcake with custard (leftover batter from a birthday cake I made at the weekend).
Husband has had a vicious d&v bug over the weekend, and wanted “something wholesome“ for dinner, so I made chicken noodle soup and had a bowl with a chunk of baguette.
A chunk of Tony Chocoloney: it’s a sturdy bar and I nearly cracked a tooth gnawing it off, so I suspect the calories expended in the eating negated the calories consumed…

youalright · 18/05/2026 23:16

Homemade black forest overnight oats - these are made with cacao and Greek yogurt and taste very chocolatey.

3 lovely ripe pears, a slice of chocolate cake (made by the teens - it was a bit dry but it was an apology)
Ham, brie and tomato sandwich

Might do jackets and make some roasted veg hummus to go on them tonight

I've been trying and failing not to be a lard arse for a month and feel very menopausal.

@BobbieTables I’m intrigued about the Black Forest overnight oats. Care to share your recipe and method? I think we may have all the ingredients in the house right now.

Also, is your username an XKCD reference?

Overnight oats red berries and yogurt
sourdough peanut butter and banana .
a bit of leftover pasta pesto from kids lunch rather than throw it away
Homemade honey oat and ginger cookie
tomato tart and salad

@Usedoccasionally oooh that honey oat and ginger cookie sounds good too. Do you have the recipe?

BobbieTables · 20/05/2026 07:16

@JingsMahBucket
It's half a cup of oats, half a cup of Greek yogurt, 2 tbsp of cacao powder, 1/4 cup of milk and some frozen cherries. Then pop a bit of extra Greek yogurt on top in the morning.
Not an XKCD reference, just what I imagine bob mortimer might call a pet cat! I do know the comic though.
