I love these types of threads as I feel I need some accountability as I’m dieting currently and also I’m nosey and like seeing what others have.

greek yogurt, mango and strawberries with a little bit of granola

mixed salad, avocado, spicy beetroot and leftover chicken tikka

will have -
homemade pasta bolognaise
mixed salad

Homemade black forest overnight oats - these are made with cacao and Greek yogurt and taste very chocolatey.

3 lovely ripe pears, a slice of chocolate cake (made by the teens - it was a bit dry but it was an apology)
Ham, brie and tomato sandwich

Might do jackets and make some roasted veg hummus to go on them tonight

I've been trying and failing not to be a lard arse for a month and feel very menopausal.

B: egg mayo baguette (reduced in garage last night), chocolate mousse (ditto), gin and tonic.
D: buttered sourdough bread, hot chocolate.
T: prepack aubergine parmigiana, homemade cake.

G&T for brekkie? Hardcore!

Chell2281 · 15/05/2026 23:08

a slice of toast for breakfast
couple of chocolate biscuits with my cup of tea

i don't get how people can manage 3 meals a day I wish I could but just don’t get hungry most days

Is that all? For a whole day? I would faint. Literally, my blood sugar wouldn’t cope. Don’t you feel unwell?

@DugnuttEyeBoogies you're right. It felt awful, esp skipping lunch and then having the cinnamon bun and oat bar instead. But writing it down I actually saw it wasn't that bad!

So far today, soy yoghurt with banana and nuts
Some crisps
Chickpea soup, 2 pieces of sourdough, a square of chocolate, a hobnob biscuit.

Helleborus2026 · 17/05/2026 17:14

Protein shake with cherries and chia seeds
2 egg omelette with spinach, green beans and broccoli
Steamed haddock, oven roast courgette, peppers, onions and tomatoes

henlake7 · 17/05/2026 17:16

vegan ham and cucumber baguette and packet of Doritos.
Banana.

Today is my treat day, back to dieting tomorrow!😁

I think most of these sound nutritious, and very different to what you would have seen on here 20 years ago. No way would you have seen chia seeds, edamame beans, poke bowl, kefir etc. Mains for dinner would have mostly been spag bol, lasagne, chicken breasts (as curry or stiry fry or just with seasoning on), salmon fillets with potatoes and veg. Roast dinner. Salad or soup or omelette or something on toast for lunch. Brekast would have been cereal (generally healthier like Weetabix or porridge rather than the more sugary stuff), toast, maybe boiled eggs, occasionally a fry up at the weekend.

There are very few "traditional" main courses listed here. I'm quite impressed with the range of foods, it's interesting seeing people's choices. Wondering whether younger people generally are taking more of an interest in nutrition and delierately eating more healthily for nutrition's sake rather than weight loss dieting, or if the people who regularly eat maccies and beige food are not intereted in threads like this.

G&T for brekkie? Hardcore!

As per previous similar threads, I usually have one drink a day, sometimes two, often none. I frequently have it in the morning, and none later. Pint of beer, single rum and coke, sherry, single G&T, wine, anything I fancy. I got into the habit when visiting an alcoholic friend (now dead) who had pints of lager for breakfast every morning in Wetherspoons. I would join them, and have an actual breakfast and a pint. I'm retired/self-employed (very part-time now), so don't need to be stone-cold sober. I did conquer a sizeable drink problem in my 20s, had two separate decades teetotal since, and otherwise have been a very light drinker like now. So quite boring really, though I'm happy with it like that. Nothing about me is hardcore these days I'm afraid, but I enjoyed the comment!
