My mobile phone number is the first (and only) mobile phone number I've ever had. I got it before the providers inserted the '7' after the 0 to the numbers who didn't have it. So that's nearly 30 years ago I guess.

Are you still using your first mobile phone number? I thought I was unusual but apparently quite a few people are still on their first. Are you?

Yep got my first phone when I passed my driving test in 1996 (for emergencies only) had the same number ever since through many different handsets and providers. My mum got hers at the same time so our numbers kind of match.

With the exception of it going from 0589 to 07889 with the code changes still on the one I got in January 1995!!! My sister is the same.

Just found a picture of my first phone. Alcatel Easy touch, bright blue. Looks like a toy phone.

Yes, same number since my first phone in the late 90s. It was on the Orange Everyday20 tariff, meaning I had twenty minutes of free off-peak calls each day, but nothing more. Texting was very new, but I remember Orange soon added a set number of free texts each month.

My DF had a BT Cellnet phone from the early 90s, with an 05 number (I think!), and other than the change to 07, he still has that number. The phone is probably somewhere in his loft too!

Mine was Cellnet too. The same number all this century. I didn't want a mobile initially, but my (now) ex told me I had to have one. Been divorced from him for about 25 years!

phone at Carphone Warebouse in Selfridges and they let me choose a nice number. It’s an easy to remember number.

I’ve had my number since around 2003 maybe? Not my first number but nearly.

There was a brief era around then where you could sort of choose your own number. The phone company would offer a number and if you didn’t like it you could click and get another. And you could keep doing that till you got one you liked.

I chose a number at that time that was really simple and easy to remember (lots of repetition of digits) and I’ve kept it ever since.

Yes. I'm always confused when people don't port their number, I've had the same one for nearly 30 years and wouldn't want to change it

Almost. I gave my first phone to DH when I got a pay rise and wanted something fancier and he’s kept the number ever since. I’m still on my second number, both are from late-nineties.

Like a previous reply, my husband and I got our first phone to share, but I was pregnant with our daughter so I got to carry it round with me more when I went out without him.
Said daughter will be 30 in November, so I have had the number about 30.5 years!

Same number. Cannot remember when I had my first mobile,probably about 25 years ago.

I got my first mobile in Christmas 2000 when Orange dropped expiry dates on their PAYG phone credit.

I am stunned at the poll result. I don't know a single soul who still has the same mobile phone number that they had when had on their first mobile phone. Most people I know had their first mobile phone 26-28 years ago. Some have had the same number for 10-15 years, (since the early to mid 2010s.) But not the same once since the late 1990s! That's batshit.

No as my first phone was a pay as you go phone in 1996 (I think). Didn't keep the number as I'm sure I had a period of time I didn't use it. Have had the same number for the last 25 years though.

Technically yes, the first one I had was my dad’s old one and then in the era of getting the free o2 sims sent to you , I’ve had this number since I was 14. So that’s 24 years.

No, I had a couple of PAYG phones between age 19-22 with different numbers ….. but I’ve had my current one for 24 years.

yes same number - for my first brick Nokia in think 1994 /95 when was 19/20 so had for over 30yrs

Yep 1999 here. Started with Orange. I do often feel slightly disgruntled that I never get any old boyfriend blast from the past texts. Ha!
