Are you still using your first mobile phone number?

My mobile phone number is the first (and only) mobile phone number I've ever had. I got it before the providers inserted the '7' after the 0 to the numbers who didn't have it. So that's nearly 30 years ago I guess.

Are you still using your first mobile phone number? I thought I was unusual but apparently quite a few people are still on their first. Are you?

Yes, it feels like a part of me! I know people who change their number all the time, I don’t get it

HornyHornersPinger · 08/05/2026 14:41

Yep since 2000

Allmarbleslost · 08/05/2026 17:24

No it's my second number but I've had it about 25 years

3rd number
1st phone (1998) was an Ericsson brick that could store 8 SMS messages.
I got a better PAYG phone in 2001. Still bricky, but could fit into a generous pocket and had a small aerial that was less likely to cause significant injury Grin
I've had my number since my Nokia in 2002.

It was a PITA to transfer numbers in the early days.

DH has only had one number other than the change from 04 to 07.

I’m on my 2nd, got it in 2001

I got my first phone in 1997, with my first pay cheque from my new job, still got the number. I also have the same email address I set up at the same time.

Yes, I got my phone in July 2000 at Sainsbury’s in Sydenham.
DH had had a phone for a few years but he fancied a new set-up so bought one at the same time as me. Our numbers are consecutive.

Yes! Both me and dh do.
The Nokia brick that dm sent me when we moved house at 8 months pregnant and she was afraid we might need to phone quickly. There were public (and working) phones opposite our house, but she thought that might not be good enough.

Dh used that phone until about 2010 when we were watching a programme about vintage gadgets and the exact phone appeared.

I got onto one of those little Nokia ones that are still popular today fairly shortly afterwards and have kept that number.

I know I’ve had my number for 20 years, and I remember negotiating the contract when and what role I had which probably extends the time I have had it to around 30 years but it could be longer as they were also my baby brain years.
I can remember the number of the first car phone my dad had in the 80s too. Although he didn’t keep that.
