Please help me think where my phone might be!!!

Samsung smart things isn't locating it.

I am confident it is in the house. I have 2 toddlers. I noticed last night it was missing. But I hoped it would just turn up.

To make it worse it is my work phone and there is a lot of things that have 2 step verification now so I can't log into things

The company know I use it as a personal phone too, they offered when I started. It has two sims.

What kind of phone is it?

BarbarianBabs · 05/05/2026 10:32

I feel your pain. I’m always losing my work phone. It’s black so merges seamlessly into all dark nooks and crannies. Then the added bonus of not thinking about it or needing it over the weekend, so by the time a work day comes around the battery has died so can’t even call it!

I think I need a bright orange phone case for it. Places to check:

  • all bags
  • all coat pockets
  • if you have an area you tend to work from at home, try all the drawers, shelves etc in that room
  • plus the same for the room you might float into when taking a break from work
good luck

Pin the devil.
My guess is it’s slipped down behind one of the settee cushions.
St Anthony is patron saint of lost things. St Jude is lost causes so you could still give him a try 😁

I feel like a lost cause all right!

Whilst you search please keep an eye out for my red hard cover A5 notebook. It's been missing for over a week.

Your coat pocket?
still plugged in in the car?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 05/05/2026 11:06

Have you any older neighbour with a landline? If so, get them to ring the number.

Dbank · 05/05/2026 11:20

Presumably you have tried calling it already...so

Assuming it still has some battery life, it should be possible to confirm if it's still in the house and connected to your wi-fi by scanning your network for connected devices on another phone or computer connected to the same network.

On Mac OS I would use the iNet Network scanner, or Fing on Windows.

Alternatively you should be able to see it on your wi-fi router, and possibly when it was last connected.

If it's a Samsung, it'll be running Android. Have you tried going to a blank Google page on your laptop and typing in "find my phone"? (sounds crazy but it has worked for me)

doodleygirl · 05/05/2026 11:23

I recently lost my ear pods, searched everywhere, finally found them in the dog toy box, no idea how they got there.

Try the toy boxes, good luck

Not crazy at all! If you have location switched on, this should work.

Apple phones have a similar thing. Can't remember what it's called.

Ragatha · 05/05/2026 12:00

The good thing about using "find my device" on Google is that it overrides the sound settings, so you can get it to make a noise even if your phone is set to silent.

Also, ot shows you the location so if it is out of the house you can see where it is.

WonderingAboutThus · 05/05/2026 12:11

I always put my stuff too high up to keep it safe from my kids, then lose it on top of the fridge or so. Do you do that?

WonderingAboutThus · 05/05/2026 12:12

Oh, or change jackets etc as seasons change. A rain coat maybe?

Try using a pendulum it works !

Easier to make calls from a phone though.

Logika · 05/05/2026 12:18

Down the sides of seats in the car is our go-to, as PP mentioned.

Also sofas, are there any gaps under your sofa cushions where something could escape into the innards of the sofa?

Random toy boxes are a good shout, by also inside toys themselves. I remember nursery staff confidently retrieving toddler socks from the nursery dolls' house.

sesquipedalian · 05/05/2026 12:24

OP, do your toddlers have any little bags where they like to put things? Many years ago I tore the house apart looking for some keys, only to find (much later) that my DD had stashed them in her little bag. My DGS is very keen on throwing things away - have you checked the bin?

Thank you so much for that info. Just tried it (phone NOT lost) & my phone rung. Such a useful thing to know.

Abra1t · 05/05/2026 12:36

Down the side of the sofa/sofa cushions? Under a sofa or chair? Under the microwave? On a basin?

BunnyLake · 05/05/2026 12:39

Does anyone in your family have it on their locator? I was able to find my son’s phone that way.

Your praying to the wrong saint 😂
It is st Jude, who helps you with lost things.
I'm not religious but my late dm swore by him 😂

T’isnt Jude, it’s Anthony of Padua.
OP make sure you’re praying to the correct Anthony. He never fails!

LoveYouPickle · 05/05/2026 12:44

I found mine once in the washing basket it fell out of my hand into it when I was sorting

And once in the wet washing all nice and clean but fucked 🤣🤣🤣

PuzzlingRecluse · 05/05/2026 12:48

I lost mine for months, had to report it … found it last week in our cellar with camping things (it’s never been camping)

Good luck!

CanINapNow · 05/05/2026 12:51

Check your dressing gown pockets!

Abandofangelsincivvies · 05/05/2026 12:55

I’ve found mine in my drive before now, having rushed to accept a parcel at the gate, and not putting it deep enough in to my pocket. Did any parcels arrive at the door today so that you needed your hands free and you put the phone to one side somewhere?

on Apple it’s “findmy” 🤣

if it is an Apple device you can log into your iCloud from anywhere and “play sound”. It will beep very loudly. If it’s a newer phone you can actually get another device to direct you to it’s location.
