Oh I know why @JewelleryCat .... You're not allowed to mention G u m m I e s.... Can't remember why, but it's a thing!

I'm wondering if I will get past the weird policing with my devious spaces 😁

How is the weather with you? @MewithME

Are we not? News to me but thanks for letting me know it’s a thing because I didn’t know we couldn’t say that word

MewithME · 23/05/2026 20:01

@JewelleryCat I think they check any posts that mention them. I can't remember why but I am sure that's it.

It is flipping hot now here and will be boiling for the next few days. It's a struggle when it's like this.

I did a click and collect (got bag of ice!) and it was such hard work. They shut the bloody collection area and I had to park and walk into the store and queue to ask customer service where my flipping shopping is! Ridiculous. Then by the time I put it away and did dinner I am absolutely floored and shaky.

I get really stressed when I know I shouldn't be doing something and just have to get on with it. Kitchen is tiny and gets full sun in the afternoon so hot weather is awful for me. Just doesn't cool down.

I am really going to try and do nothing tomorrow. Ended up going out because neighbour started jet washing again and I couldn't cope with it. 🙈

OP posts:
JewelleryCat · 23/05/2026 20:12

@MewithME that is not good, why did they shut the collection area for click and collect? Did they explain why? At least you have ice though, that should keep you cool a bit in this weather but I’m finding it a struggle too

Could your son help you and unpack the shopping? Might be easier on you and make you feel less shaky or maybe unpack in stages so fridge stuff first, take a break then put the cupboard stuff away? Sometimes that’s what I do when Ocado brings it and that’s my next point, would online delivery be easier?

Oh no, you always get someone like your neighbour making noise when it’s sunny. I use loop earplugs and they dim the noise enough to it’s bearable to cope with, might be an option for you instead of you escaping every time when you might just want a day at home

MewithME · 23/05/2026 20:30

Yes my boy helped which was good. No, they didn't explain. Really crap.

I use noise cancelling earbuds but my neighbour has been jet washing for days now and I couldn't take it anymore. It's just that sound that can't be blocked entirely.

MewithME · 23/05/2026 20:31

Thanks..yes I do usually get it delivered but couldn't get a slot when I needed it.

Evening all. I can't help with tricky dietary things I'm afraid, but can second the Biomel non dairy probiotics as being rather nice. I currently take the Your Gut Plus capsules which are also non dairy and were developed for some medical trials so meant to be very good quality.

Sorry you had to do extra work for your shopping @MewithME

I had a blip today as I had to* go up to the attic room for something, followed by several trips up and down stairs, got very warm, heart rate shot right up and I had to go and lie down.
(* it could have waited, I'm an idiot).

Watched a nice little film this evening - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt15339456/ - and did a bit of doodling in a new sketchbook and feel much better now. In bed hoping to doze off soon as have got an early start tomorrow to get to the pool while it's quieter and not too hot.

MewithME · 23/05/2026 21:07

Are you another arty one @martha79 ? Can't remember who does what... I'm getting worse...need that spreadsheet for us all I think 🤔 😁 Glad you got some doodles done.

I'm from an arts background/career. Do some digital doodling now and again but nothing serious for a long long time. Just don't have the energy... funnily enough 🙈

MyAutumnCrow · 23/05/2026 21:19

Thank you, you lovely people for the dietary chat! I'm going through your posts now with the proverbial fine-toothed comb. I daren't bore people in RL too much with this.

Oioiqueen · 23/05/2026 21:31

Not too bad with the heat at the moment. Once upon a time we lived on the coast and it was always windy so never really felt heat. However couldn't be any further away from the coast and really notice it. We sit in a dip apparently and this whole area tends to get a heat inversion so always get in the top 20 of hottest places whenever there is a heat wave. Although I'm finding now my thyroid is still underactive and I have short hair for the first time in my life I'm not actually overheating....well yet.

To add I've just managed to eat 3/4 of a lindt chocolate bunny, probably not very clever to do so... Oops.... Oh well if you can't overdose on chocolate when you have stage 4 cancer when can you? 😂

No, I'm a musician who is terrible at drawing 😂 But a few years ago I did the 100 days creative challenge and drew every day, and both got better (who knew, practice works 🤣) and embraced just doing something without having to be good at it. Thought I'd give it a go again as I've been enjoying doing some colouring-in and paint by numbers.

Oioiqueen · 23/05/2026 21:38

@MewithME do you have a sunflower lanyard? Honestly at the point of going to the desk I'd have showed them the lanyard told them I was chronically ill and asked them to take it to my car and load it for me. It's not your fault they changed their system. If you've mentally and physically prepared for a certain circumstance and they haven't delivered on their contract of bringing it to your car (as is actual click and collect). I hate playing the woe is me card but honestly I've gone past giving flying F's now on things like this.

@Swanhilde has been back in the fold with her magic kettle....thank goodness.. though I do think we may need to swap to an ice maker? ☺️🥵

I am still here and innocent of all charges 😆

Had a lovely morning yesterday mooching around the market and people watching with a coffee. Today is a rest day in the sunshine ☀️

Have a peaceful Sunday all 💕

TodayIsatrickyone · 24/05/2026 08:14

Awake early today as DH and DD made a plan to go and have a mooch around a car boot sale and actually managed to get up and go which anyone wirh a teen knows is quite something at the weekend! We really need to declutter and not add more but honestly it’s so nice to see them both do something normal after recent events where it’s all been looking after me and doing what needs to be done with revision thrown in for DD.
Dippy dog has decided it’s too early to be up so we’re both still in bed but might take another cuppa in the garden shortly before the heat hits.

Im currently wearing the 72 hour heart monitor which hasn't been too bad but need a shower today so will have to unplug and remember how to re wire correctly afterwards! Looks simple enough but I will be glad to pull these blasted stickers off tomorrow 😊

We’re by the coast so usually a couple of degrees lower than my friend inland. Still forecast 27 today and 29 for the next few days which is a bit out of my comfort zone and zaps any energy. I do find I’m generally better in warm weather as it usually helps joint pain but I prefer it early 20s which is perfect for me!

Have a peaceful day all and stay cool 😊

A likely story!

You've picked a lovely weekend for a mooch around.

MewithME · 24/05/2026 09:08

Lindt bunnies are niiiiice chocolate, I approve @Oioiqueen .

I don't have a lanyard, no. But the surly young woman on customer services would not have given a flying wotsit anyway. They did eventually bring it to my car. I just had to track them down in the huge car park. Basically , I arrived, drove to the right bit, it was shut...no signs ...asked a guy collecting trollies who said I needed to go into the store but he thought there were as a van somewhere. I drove round the carpark, saw a van, parked. Realised the van was empty. Had to walk all the way to the store and customer service desk and then back to the car. Drive right round again and finally parked near the actual van which was in a very awkward place. So basically you're sort of right. I did a lot more walking and driving and moving around than the lad who hopped out and came 4 metres across the road after I managed to park near him.

It was crap. Oh and they put some random Snickers in my order. DS has a nut allergy and i didn't order it. They said my stuff was mixed with someone else's.

Anyway, slept ok. Another beautiful day here and quite fresh this morning. I'm in one of those twitchy moods where my body is buzzy and I know how much I overdid it the other evening with the work thing, so I really should rest today. But it's half term and apart from tomorrow, I will be working all week so I am a bit restless. I shall ease in with another cuppa and maybe a quick coolish bath.

Oh how I would love to go to a car boot sale! It used to be somewhat embarrassing to read DDs infant school diary "On Sunday I went to a car boot sale with Mummy and Daddy" almost every week! It was lovely actually in the village where she went to school, so we knew people from school and mums and toddlers etc. Lots of plant stalls, amazing variety of bric a brac. People clearing attics and sheds would turn up with all sorts! A lot of entertainment for a pound or two.

The clutter will come in whatever you do!

Edit forgot to say. Whenever we need to unplug printer, computer and all the bits we take a photo of the wires in the back. You could do that for your pads? Or felt tip pen maybe?

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/05/2026 09:23

@MewithME absolutely outraged on your behalf. I am sure complaining would use up too much psychic energy but they would be losing my custom for sure.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 24/05/2026 09:32

Morning all.
@MyAutumnCrow I feel for you. Not the same but I now have swallowing/choking issues. I cannot eat anything solid if I'm on my own in case I choke. I've had a couple of times where dh had to really work on me to dislodge the stuck food. Honestly scary.
So I'm limited a lot of the time to yoghurt or porridge. Not keen on a lot of soup.
I was referred to someone to try & help but she couldn't tell me anything that I didn't already know or was already doing.
Bright side now - warm weather = ice cream & lollies!

Agree. Bleddy rubbish customer service.

Today is hot and I am wearing a very loose hippyish Indian cotton dress. Just like the ones I wore when I was pregnant, many, many years ago.

Off to church later. It might be cooler there.

BendyAndTired · 24/05/2026 09:37

I should be working on my PIP review appeal, but I’ll probably procrastinate by crocheting instead. It’s glorious here, so I’m in the garden with my coffee at the moment.

TeaAndStrumpets · 24/05/2026 09:57

Got out my trusty silk tunic top and it has shattered in several places. I loved that top, so cool and airy. I was straight off to eBay to find some summer clothing and got a good haul of tops and airy trousers. I also found a beautiful milkmaid style dress in Liberty fabric which would be perfect for a summer wedding if ( A ) I had been invited to one and (B) I were six inches taller. It was such a bargain I bought it anyway!!

MewithME · 24/05/2026 10:00

🙂 @TeaAndStrumpets you are funny x Anything swishy is a good plan!

I e just put on my giant babygro type jumpsuit. Not sure if I'm too hot already though.

God. It's going to be filthy here all week. Been eyeing up the weather at Mum's house all week and feeling envious. It's at least 6 degrees cooler all week.

DoAWheelie · 24/05/2026 10:22

I forgot how much worse my allergies get when it's hot. I'm itchy all over, horrible stuffed nose, and my lips feel a bit tight. Had a weird night where I was far too hot under my 4 tog summer blanket, but if I stuck out a leg I'd wake up shivering.

Hope everyone is able to stay comfortable in the heat. Last year wasn't too bad compared to the couple before it, I'm hoping it will be similar this year.
