Schrödinger's Strait - Trump Thread #162A

1000 replies

Spandauer · 19/04/2026 14:58

The Strait of Schrödinger remains open and closed, safe and dangerous, insurable and uninsurable, blockaded and free.

"You put your tanker in, you put your tanker out
In, out, in, out, you sail it all about
You do the Straits of Hormuz and you turn around
That’s what it’s all about!"

THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!

Got overwhelmed by the 🍊💩's idiot fuckery last time and missed out thread #161 so have designated this one as fake #162...A

He Has No Deal, He Has No Dice - Trump Thread #162 | Mumsnet

Old enough to remember whole years in which I barely thought about the American president. Previous thread: [[https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/<u&gt...

The UAE’s decision had been rumored as a possibility for some time, Associated Press points out.
The UAE has pushed back in recent years against OPEC production quotas it felt had been too low — meaning it wasn’t able to sell as much oil to the world as it had wanted.
Regional politics are also likely at play. The UAE has had increasingly frosty relations with Saudi Arabia, OPEC‘s largest producer, over political and economic matters in the Mideast, even after both came under attack by fellow OPEC member Iran during the war.

Can you connect this to the UAE Prince fella meeting Xi recently ?

Just asking cos you appear to know about this stuff. I don't.

OPEC is just a cartel.

However, cheap oil doesn't make as much money for oil companies as expensive oil. There's less leeway to hide profiteering.

God if I was Chuck I'd be itching to deck him, saying he had the privilege of getting to know QE2. You got nowhere near knowing her mate. They're not your buddies.
TV, Sky, Trump speech, Mel and Chuck on screen.
Oh god shut up shut up shut UP!

Trump just said his mother had a crush on Chuck.
How fucking embarrassing is he?

🤮 So inappropriate.

"It’s another instance of how much thought goes into diplomatic spectacles like this week’s state visit."
Diplomatic spectacles indeed, although as pointed out hard for Charles not to mention the fact Trump is trying to kill the bees in the rest of America when presented with this monstrosity. I wonder if it has the new ballroom on the back?

I was thinking it was more about Russia meeting with Iran yesterday and announcing "tactical partnership" but I might be off.

I have to admit that I can't help but think:

Spectacles, testicles wallet and watch

Really? Charles Windsor was born in 1948, Trump's mother in 1912. That's a thirty-six year age-difference.

What's the female for "paedophile"?

DuncinToffee · 28/04/2026 16:37

Trump is older than Charles

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 28/04/2026 16:47

Indeed.

There's sure to be a name for women who fancy their sons' friends/contemporaries.... And I doubt that it is yummy mummy; it will be far ruder than that.

It's a gender neutral term.

I don't think there is a straight line connection, as the reasons given are to do with having more control over oil production, and tensions with Saudi leadership of OPEC.

However, China will have learned lessons from their over-dependence on Iranian oil supplies during the war. As diversification of supply gives more options, they might have not discouraged UAE from leaving.

Venezuela is one of the founding OPEC members, so it will be interesting to see if they decide to leave too, to take advantage of high oil prices.
On second thoughts, I take that back. Their infrastructure is so damaged that it will take a few years to get back to producing 3million barrels per day and by then, as global demand for oil shrinks in a downturn, they will be better off within the protection of OPEC, who will be stabilising prices by member countries agreeing to restrict supply.

In terms of money, it's a win for UAE, but at what cost elsewhere?
Trump's second term could be that butterfly effect you mentioned previously. The small initial act that leads to big changes - new global defense alliances, trade alliances and the breakup of traditional partnerships.

Didn't Sir Kim Darroch have to resign as UK ambassador to US because he dissed 🍊💩 in 2016?

Mandy's replacement not too much of a fan either?

Would have been so much easier just to get planning permission.

Have you counted your newts?

As someone who had a 10y working relationship with planners - of which only maybe 3 were actual nice guys - some of their decisions...🤯🤦🏻‍♀️...nah, build it and then appeal, the LAs these days can't really affort to fight, unfortunately (not US, obvs).

Women of all ages had a crush on Charles when he was a young man. He was the most eligible bachelor in the world and a real-life prince!!. Even my own mother, who is now 86, had a huge crush on him at the time. Better tell her she's a paedophile then. 🙄

DuncinToffee · 28/04/2026 19:20

BREAKING on MS NOW:

James Comey has been indicted by the Trump Justice Department — again.

This time, Comey has been indicted on charges alleging he made threats against Trump in that May 2025 social post of a picture of shells on the beach that spelled out "8647."

Edited

I'm 71. I can assure you this crush wasn't universal. Besides, it's not so much the crush, it's the son of the crusher telling it on the world stage in the presence of the crushee when said crushee is now King of UK. THAT'S inappropriate.

The State Department has finalized a plan to put a picture of Donald Trump in passports. A portrait of an actual president has never been featured in a passport before, let alone a living one in office. This is dictator stuff.

I am amazed he hasn't found his own rockface to carve his profile into, bigglier and betterer than those other old guys ones. So much betterer that you can see him from SPACE! Which of course he also owns.

BustingBaoBun · 28/04/2026 20:28

Watching Charles's speech to the Congress, I am amazed at the hypocrisy of Republicans clapping like seals at the bones of his message about peace in the world and upholding democracy
