They may take awhile for Mumsnet to approve this picture, but on truth social Trump has posted an AI an image of himself as Jesus
I’m not often speechless, but I think this time he has succeeded

The Iranians are coming across far less unhinged than Trump and his cronies.

did anyone see the replies from Iranian embassies on Trumps sweary rant about opening the strait of Hormuz?

”we’ve lost the keys”

”they’re under the flowerpot. Friends only”

and similar. Humour is the best response to Trump.

Yes, the Iranians have been talking about his "absurd nonsense" and "ridiculous theatricals" and it is impossible to disagree, however loathsome you know the regime to be.

Surely many US Christians would find this offensive?

Unfortunately there’s several types of Christians in the US and a scary proportion of them probably wish they’d created the image first. The Easter speech he gave about being called King of kings was cheered by the 30 or so pastors in the room

What in the name of fuck is this?

He needs to be removed. By force if necessary

It is a terrible regime but those Lego videos they are posting on Instagram are brilliant, so sharp and witty and they get them out really quickly, they put one up with a Lego Melania pole dancing in response to her recent statement

Come on, he's taking the piss. I think he gets a rise out of knowing that the eejits will be outraged!

That is so depressing. I am a practicing Catholic and was so dismayed when Catholics were part of the groups that voted him in both times as were American relatives.

I’m not offended- I don’t expect anything else of him. I want to know what else has been released today that wants us to miss while the MSM and SM focus on this.

I am angry at Trumps behaviour to everyone, religious and not
especially threatening genocide and immigrants and reducing healthcare. Angry I don’t feel safe to visit my relatives due to his immigration rules,

As Alan partridge said to his greatest fan 'youre a mentalist'

FateAmenableToChange · 13/04/2026 18:43

Wouldn’t most fundamentalist Christians (his voter base) consider that blasphemy?

PottingBench · 13/04/2026 18:44

'Speaking to reporters several hours after it was removed, Trump said he believed the image depicted him as a doctor next to a Red Cross worker.

"It's supposed to be as a doctor making people better," he said. "And I do make people better. I make people a lot better.'

BBC News.

Meanwhile, whilst he's not cos-playing Jesus Trump's real world is looking like shit this week. His man in Hungary lost, his $10 billion dollar lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal was thrown out and the Italian PM (whom Trump considers his ally) has condemned his attack on the Pope. Bigly miserable.

They might if they weren't 99% bananas. Have you seen their Instagram pages?

extrasausages · 13/04/2026 18:55

I think it’s funny but he’s obvious he does this stuff to troll the globe. The minute he does, the media goes crazy and threads like this start across social media. Instant viral fame and he’s probably the only person in the world powerful enough to have that kind of impact.

I’d like to hope the leader of the free world has better things to do that troll the internet - but hey ho! In any event, on this particular image the backlash was swift even among his own devoted supporters so it’s now been deleted.

Abhannmor · 13/04/2026 18:56

FateAmenableToChange · 13/04/2026 18:43

Wouldn’t most fundamentalist Christians (his voter base) consider that blasphemy?

Not really. They worship in a giant K Mart style box and pastors roll around speaking in tongues. I'd say it takes a lot to shock them.

On the dementia things , many of us will have had a loved one gradually losing their short term memory. They may already have been a bit set in their ways or mildly eccentric so it can be hard to spot the onset? This is doubly so in the case of Trump. When was he ever normal ? But in his case , dementia is compounded by the pre existing narcissism and other sociopathic symptoms .

OnSecondThoughts · 13/04/2026 18:59

Speaking as (a) a practising Catholic, and (b) someone who, if I was American I'd be a Republican voter, I have to concede that I agree that Trump may be starting to lose his marbles. And its slightly worrying because I always assume that the USA (and all well developed nations) are not just run by one person, but by a whole team of politicians, advisers etc. So I would assume that Mr Trump has people around him to say "no, thats a very bad idea, Mr President, it's your call but I wouldn't post that image. If you want to criticise the Pope, write about why you dont like what he says". If Mr Trump is simply not listening to such voices, what else might he do without listening to advice?
I remember when they published photos of the grotesque 'artwork' inside Saddam Hussein's palace, and wondering whether the power goes to their heads, or what? Now the POTUS is uploading equally ... stupid nonsense.

The people who would be most outraged are his own base who contain a very large number of fundamentalist Christians. Why would he want to do that?

Predictably this is exactly what has happened hence why he has taken down the image. With the war, gas prices, and now this he seems he’ll bent on alienating his own supporters. It’s very odd behaviour.

But how do we know Trump drew this himself? It could have been any idiot with access to AI claiming to be him.

He didn't. I saw that on social media some months ago, but I think that this might be the first time that he's shared it.

WearyAuldWumman · 13/04/2026 19:24

Agree. If he drew it, it would be a stick figure (like the Saint) at best. Probably malformed though.

The fact he actually chose to share it on his own SM account though is something else. We all know he's obsessed with his SM presence and IMO this was done straight faced.

Utterly, utterly delusional. I hope in 100 years time this debacle is being taught as a cautionary example of power, voting and the suggestibility of humans, as if we needed another one.
