I can't believe Starmer and co are wasting time on this when the world is about to burn

Really? When does that end then? World is about to burn, hell, forget schools, NHS then. Sod it, none of it matters! Right, thats me off to pillage the neighbours, nobody cares!

This is literally their job though isn’t it? People are denied work visas/ entry visas every day of the week. It’s not exactly extra work to ban Kw.

MyLimeGuide · 07/04/2026 16:01

Of course this is good news hes a racist scumbag.

PurpleThistle7 · 07/04/2026 16:03

It was a little glimmer of hope after 2.5 years of feeling utterly unwelcome here. I am glad to see there is actually a limit to what is encouraged.

I have never heard of someone’s manic episode meaning they become a bigot for TWENTY YEARS, saying many different things at many different times, apologising for nothing and releasing an actual track praising Hitler of all things. This isn’t a random and instantly regretted comment at the pub that was recorded by a random
person, this was years and years and years of this nonsense.

Hallamule · 07/04/2026 16:12

Good. I don't think we need to welcome people promoting Nazism in the name of free speech.

BerryTwister · 07/04/2026 16:13

Inextremis · 07/04/2026 15:22

Wireless have cancelled because their main sponsors have pulled out, I believe.

I'd have thought they could renegotiate with the sponsors now Kanye isn't coming. It definitely sounds like a Wireless flounce to me.

Hallamule · 07/04/2026 16:20

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/04/2026 14:20

No, I'm not. I don't think being a 'very unpleasant individual' is sufficient criteria for not allowing someone into a country. I think West is an arsehole but he's expressed remorse and suggested meeting with members of the Jewish community in the UK.

Why would members of the Jewish community want to meet Kayne West? Do you think rehabilitating his image is a top priority of theirs?

begonefoulclutter · 07/04/2026 16:27

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/04/2026 15:01

An awful lot of people will have bought tickets because Kanye was headlining though. They would have had to give refunds.

Anyone wanting to see him perform needs their head examined.

What do you mean by flounce though? They’re just a business. What do you think, they’re going to go bankrupt to show their support of kayne west? Of course not. Maybe, just maybe, putting on a massive commercial festival is more complex than we imagine

Edited

Perhaps they thought it may be a positive way of overcoming the growing hate & danger they face daily? Perhaps they were kind enough to see there may be value in his followers seeing some much needed corrections on his part? Is this not a tad bigger than his career? We have a whole generation of 20-somethings who have all been fed via social media appalling hatred, this could have been an opportunity to turn on that trend?

Stoneycold12 · 07/04/2026 16:33

DoubleShotEspresso · 07/04/2026 14:21

Actually- whilst I found his previous actions & words beyond vile and deeply offensive , I feel as if we have missed a trick here. It would be somewhat refreshing for an American to be visibly apologetic & willing to meet with Jewish community members here, God knows the world needs some unity right now.
I detest all he said previously, but he apologised months ago, the Jewish faith embraces the acknowledgment of regret, remorse & changed behaviours. He could have done this on a global stage when so many youngsters here have been encouraged to hate Jews & could have reconsidered their thinking.

it’s beyond me that we have permitted the likes of Musk, Tommy Ten names & Katie Hopkins, along with other peddlers of hatred such as Bob Vylan/Kneecap a platform & routine far right marches. None have the word sorry in their vocabulary….
Yet this guy gets banned, having apologised months ago & maybe just could have done some good by publicly changing his stance.

I write this as somebody who has also been so utterly disturbed by the rise & acceptance of antisemitism in London. It’s time for all of us to work together, not against each other, this could well have been the start.

Sometimes an apology is sincere, sometimes it's not, and like many others I don't believe that West is sincere - he's trying to sell records, so will say whatever will help to raise his profile.

He has form for alologising for his anti-semetic statements but then continuing to make them, so I don't think I'm being unreasonable in questioning his remorse.

And why should the Jewish community want to meet with him, to help his PR.

As for Katie Hopkins and Tommy Robinson, they're British, can't deport them.

45a · 07/04/2026 16:39

A good thing, he is a hateful man and a massive antisemite. His big apology came out ahead of his album, clearly a pr person being like let’s draft this up.

ginasevern · 07/04/2026 17:02

Wellthisisdifficult · 07/04/2026 14:29

I think people have woken up after the burning of the ambulances

Maybe. Although I've heard a couple of sickening comments from surprising quarters about that.

Sartre · 07/04/2026 17:05

Massive shame with Ye. I’m a huge fan of his music, some albums are a stroke of literal genius. The album he failed to release last year was shocking, and not in a good way. Some older songs really pushed the limits, thinking of New Slaves for example but Heil Hitler would never ever been acceptable.

He’s just seriously mentally ill and I feel it goes beyond bipolar, I think schizophrenia. He lost it after his mother died and got worse when he married Kim.

dapsnotplimsolls · 07/04/2026 17:35

Whattodo1610 · 07/04/2026 15:35

He’s not just visiting though is he? 🙄
Clearly you like him and are upset at this news, but the majority of people will be glad he’s quite rightly, not allowed to be a part of this festival.

I don't like him and I'm not upset. I suggest you read all of my posts.

I don’t think he should have been banned. It seems largely symbolic, and the current Labour Party doing everything it can to distance itself from the Corbyn era.

But if feels like a slippery slope to me — who decides which views are bannable? This gives enormous discretionary power to politicians who are ill equipped to make moral judgements of others.

I agree with this, given that Starmer has largely found it impossible to adopt any opinion wit real conviction, his statement read very weakly. I cannot understand where tis ends and quite who decides what is and is not acceptable when so much hatred is permitted throughout our cities.

Why is everyone on here such a fan of censorship?

I am a fan of not letting disgusting fuckers like KW into our country. That is why we have a visa system. Free speech doesn't mean free from consequences.

I am very happy that, finally, the UK is setting some boundaries. Especially in respect of anti semitism which is absolutely rampant and largely unremarked in the UK.

MrsScarecrow · 07/04/2026 18:33

Does he actually know what Hilter thought of black people or those of mixed race? I suggest he does some research before supporting Hilter. Blacks were considered inferior and many underwent enforced sterilisation to prevent the 'polluting' the Ayrean race. Uneducated and ignorant man.

SockPlant · 07/04/2026 18:41

on the other hand, black athletes from the US who took part in the 1936 Berlin Olympics pointed out that they were allowed everywhere, there were no segregated toilets, drinking fountains or restaurants and they didn't have to sit at the back of buses.

I am hugely in favour of this starting the ball rolling and the government tackling the vile antisemetism we have been seeing. They can start with the Free Palestine marches.

YerMotherWasAHamster · 07/04/2026 18:42

Freedom of speech does not mean what many people think it means.

I actually think he believes he is superior i don't think he sees himself like other people of colour, that is where all the white lives matter and slavery comments stem from. I know i am probably not explaining it right but it is my thoughts on why he behaves how he does.

He’s a fawner. Fight flight freeze fawn. He fawns the racists so they look elsewhere for a target. He’s a bootlicker, and self hating black man

Please don’t suggest anything to me. I’ve read your posts, and for someone who apparently doesn’t like him you’re certainly defending his corner 🤷‍♀️
