What do you and your DH do when you go out?

Our kids are now grown up, and DH and I have free rime. Jolly lovely it is to be able to spend time together!

But we've realised that most weekends we're going out for food or cocktails, and this isn't good for our waistlines or our wallets!

We don't like sport at all, so won't enjoy sports based activities or stuff like dancing or roller skating.

We've done all the stuff like mini golf/axe throwing/bowling at our local complex, and honestly find that stuff a bit 'meh' (and expensive).

Cinema, theatre etc are OK if it's something we're interested in, but not for every weekend.

We have enjoyed stuff like sip and paint or escape rooms, but again, not every weekend.

So what stuff do you do with your DH when going out alone, that isn't just eating or drinking?

We rarely go out unless we have something booked e.g a gig (we follow quite a few bands), theatre, a comedian etc. We may go away for the weekend so will go out for a meal etc then or visit historic sites whilst there.

We may occasionally go out for a meal to celebrate a birthday but DP is an amazing cook so he will usually cook.

We do drive out and go for walks near to where we live.

Wow you do loads already. We hardly ever go out and it’s admirable that you like being around your husband so much.

Theatre mainly. Not high priced ‘shows’ but decent drama and am dram. Helping out in local theatres also. Sometimes attending classical music and sometimes comedy events.

This was my thought, too!! Are people really out on the town or ballroom dancing / theatre-going / escape-rooming / axe throwing every night?

Not every night but weekends. Certainly now all children have grown.

We like going the theatre. If the anticipated cost puts you off I can tell you that you can get some shows quite reasonably at certain theatres depending where you live. Amateur led theatres are really cheap. Also, matinees are good.

We like just going for walks too.

Absolutely agree.

We don't hardly go out at night , if we do it's to the theatre or out for a meal with friends .
But we regularly go out during the day . Museums , attractions , galleries , cafes , walks , national trust etc.

I am heartened what a cultural bunch we all are! Lots of theatre and gigs. Not a lot of pickleball etc

🤷‍♀️ we just do cocktails, food and wine. Occasionally, we do a rock concert, and get a room nearby. Otherwise, we go to an area with a few wineries and get accom fairly central.
