Apart from Dadda, Mumma, etc, my ds first word was "door." Well, " doooor" elongated, repeated many times as two or three syllables and intonation, like "dorwerwer."

Moon. I always read Goodnight Moon and his first word was asking for the book

Murder! I think maybe it was an attempt at Mama or Dada and came out as a mash-up of both.😁

My ds first word wasn’t even mum 🤔🤣

His was light. It remained his only word for months!

He was speech delayed and was later diagnosed with autism - and he’s never lost his love of lights.

He's 21 now!

My first word was light.

Like a few others on this thread, dd's first word was duck. Before any attempt at mummy, daddy etc. She was 9 months old.

She had a couple of favourite books which were focused on ducks, but she said the word when we were on holiday and she saw some ducks outside the window. She was beyond excited to see them, and just kept saying the word over and over while pointing very urgently at the ducks - I've always assumed that her mind was completely blown by having made the connection between these real life creatures and the pictures in her favourite books, and she just had to tell everyone.Grin

DD1&2 were fairly normal with their first words, mama and no respectively. DS was a bit more unorthodox, going for tree and then teeth, followed by only signing alongside those two words for months, before saying beebee for his penis. Finally after learning to say three words, and to sign a good 10-15, he finally started saying mama, baba and jiejie (older sister).
