Apart from Dadda, Mumma, etc, my ds first word was "door." Well, " doooor" elongated, repeated many times as two or three syllables and intonation, like "dorwerwer."

'Gone' when her bowl was empty. My favourite early word of hers was 'App-fooool' (apple).

Juice

Same! But elongated to Juuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuss

EmbarrassmentLovesCompany · 20/03/2026 19:21

DS2 - no idea ☺️

DS1 - More - when sat in his highchair, wanting more food.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/03/2026 19:24

If I recall the first words were
"Oh shit! Is this it then?"

CinnamonBuns67 · 20/03/2026 19:31

Dada

Listlostlast · 20/03/2026 19:34

Besides mama and dadda, it was tractor. We were going to see his dad at silage one day and as we pulled into the field, clear as a little bell ‘dadda, tractor!’ Dear little fella is still obsessed. Quickly followed by ‘dog’ and ‘FOOD’ 😂
Yet to see with my daughter. Expect it’ll be similar 😅

CharlotteSometimeslikesanafternoonnap · 20/03/2026 19:35

First sign was "milk". First word was 4 years later - "apple".

Bumblenums · 20/03/2026 19:35

Hole - DD had spent the day going round my MIL's garden with her moaning about all the holes her dogs had made on the lawn. The next day, i had a hole in my tights. She pointed at my foot and said 'hole' 😂

CelticSilver · 20/03/2026 19:47

Nagini. We're pretty sure he's going to be Sorted into Slytherin when the time comes ...

Callmebubblesdarlingeverybodydoes · 20/03/2026 19:49

DD delighted us with “Shit”
DS said “Ten”, that was about 5 years ago and he hasn’t said a word since.

QueenStevie · 20/03/2026 19:49

More

JohnnyAndTheTaxDemand · 20/03/2026 19:49

DS1 - duck
DS2 - nana (banana)

theyawnicorn · 20/03/2026 19:54

DD said “bye bye” back to Peppa Pig who had said it on the tv - complete with an attempt at a wave…

wishfulthinking25 · 20/03/2026 19:55

My DDs was “THAT”

PasDevantLesElephants · 20/03/2026 19:58

Weirdly, both kids’ first word was the same as mine - tractor. And we are not a farming family!

mondaytosunday · 20/03/2026 20:00

Son: banana, though he said it as ‘nana’ first. He loved them - I used to say he was part monkey!
Daughter: more, as I think I was always asking her if she wanted any more.

TheNinkyNonkyIsATardis · 20/03/2026 20:00

Up. He remains a keen climber to this day.

He followed it with Mama two days before I finished Mat Leave. Clambered onto my lap and said it.

goldenplacemat · 20/03/2026 20:02

Spider! Can’t remember my oldest.

101Alsatians · 20/03/2026 20:03

DS1 - two ('twooooo')
DS2 - lights ('ights!ights!)

ThreadneedleRoad · 20/03/2026 20:03

Car, then Dad. I swear, the cheeky little sod would look at me and say ‘Mu… Dad!’ on purpose.

xogossipgirlxo · 20/03/2026 20:06

Tata- Polish dada

TroysMammy · 20/03/2026 20:06

My first words Dad then Pa for Patch who was our next door neighbour's dog. I eventually said Mam. I used to go down my Nana's garden looking for Steeann's peegees. (Steven's pigeons). All my earliest memories included some sort of animal, bird or creature.

DramaAlpaca · 20/03/2026 20:08

DS1's was 'more!'

I'm embarrassed that I can't remember the younger two's first words, but DS2's could've been anything; he was speaking in full sentences at 18 months. DS3 didn't say much at all until he was about three, after which he just never shut up!

My own first word was 'button', so my mother tells me.

ainsleysanob · 20/03/2026 20:09

wishfulthinking25 · 20/03/2026 19:55

My DDs was “THAT”

Same as my son! Didn’t shut up from being about 8 months old but couldn’t walk til after he was 2! No issues he was just a lazy motormouth!

Raera · 20/03/2026 20:14

DD1 Meat!
She still loves a roast dinner!
