The feathers are not plucked from the ducks, could I make that clear? The wild ducks line their nests with their own fine downy feathers, and once they've finished with the nests, the people collect what's left behind. It is a totally sustainable and ethical product. No ducks are harmed in the down-collection process.

Eiderdowns really are that expensive.

It's a swank thing, anyway. I have a beautiful wool duvet that cost about £200, and I wouldn't swap it.

It would be just my luck to fork out for this as a lifetime investment and then find I'm allergic to it.

Is it worth the money though, in terms of comfort? My duvet was about £120, and I can’t imagine anything being 100x more comfortable in order to be worth the price tag.

What’s even more shocking than the price is at least 2 people have bought one!!

Eiderdown can be bought for much (relatively, at least) cheaper, however either way it's an investment.

I've always preferred wool for the 'weight' but we have a spare eiderdown that's a delight in winter.
