😳😳Jeeze, and two people actually bought it (according to reviews).

Bagsintheboot · 27/02/2026 20:51

If it's genuine eider down collected by hand ethically from wild duck nests I'm not surprised! Imagine the man hours you'd need to put in to get enough material.

Mosman2020 · 27/02/2026 20:53

The best duvet I own and I have tried many of them is slumber down and it’s currently 24 quid in Tesco’s

One of the reviews says they’re going to buy a second one!

BestBefore2000 · 27/02/2026 21:00

That's ridiculously expensive! Would take me almost half a year of full wages to buy this!! Mind you, the bigger problem is my husband who has a severe feather allergy so I shall I have to resist!!
Or, alternatively, of course, I could always find a multi-millionaiire who can tolerate eiderdown 🤪

GoGoSuperBug · 27/02/2026 21:03

Wow 😮 I thought my £300 one was extravagant.

CoolFineDoneWicked · 27/02/2026 21:08

Ha ha. I used to work for people who would buy that. There are canny people out there who know how to extract wealth from billionaires. It's fair enough really, that kind of money can't be spent in several lifetimes, and finding ways to get them to spend it is far less stressful than the way they make it. I should really get in on the act one of these days.

onelumporthree · 27/02/2026 21:09

I saw a programme once about the eiderdown industry in Iceland (yes my telly viewing is that random) and it is pretty much a cottage industry and all done by hand. They have to collect the down from the eider duck nests after the ducklings have fledged and then process it, and there are regulations about how much they can take and the quality of it, sustainable harvesting etc. It is a very scarce and high quality product, and that accounts for the price.

MooFroo · 27/02/2026 21:12

😳😳

you could buy 2 singles and sew them together to save yourself £245 off a superking size 🤣🤣 bargain at £9870!

plantsandwich · 27/02/2026 21:12

Being a vegan I'd never buy a feather duvet anyway but even if it wasn't morals, an ex of mine once had terrible earache for months, and then one day felt something and proceeded to pull a very slimy, greasy strand of a feather from her ear.
Since then feathers make me shudder. Wouldn't take that if you gave it me for nothing!

But really, realistically, my current duvet was bought for about £20 from eBay when I was skint having had to 'start again' on my own about 6 years ago. I could afford a new one now and could within a couple of years of that period but it does the job so I haven't. Duvets are a much of a muchness for me as I have had much more expensive ones in the past.

surrealpotato · 27/02/2026 21:14

Ten grand, is that all?

Harshreality · 27/02/2026 21:15

You're unconscious when you use it. Why would you pay that for something you don't know is there?

Monsterslam · 27/02/2026 21:16

Imagine spilling tea on it

knitnerd90 · 27/02/2026 21:17

It’s a fair price given the material, and apparently it is incredibly warm. But I live in a modern, centrally heated and insulated house. Even if I had £10K, it would be wasted on me. I do splurge on goose down and a well made duvet will last 20 years. I’m only just replacing the one I bought from John Lewis in 2005. I consider it money well spent when I think of how long I got out of it. But there are limits.

Wherearemymarbles · 27/02/2026 21:18

If its pure Eiderdown thats not that expensive. £20,000++ would not be uncommon in high end places including pillows..
and its the kind of purchase that separates the well off from the very wealthy.

Hapagirl48 · 27/02/2026 21:21

My dog would probably puke on it and ruin it immediately.

OhDear111 · 27/02/2026 21:21

It’s cheaper to go to Iceland to look at the Eider ducks!

Nincompoo · 27/02/2026 21:25

I love feather duvets and pillows but I can’t imagine how rich you’d have to be to spend 10k on a duvet! One can dream hey 🤣😮

Labragoogle · 27/02/2026 21:27

This must be a typo on their site? It cldnt possibly be that much?? J L any thoughts??

Ilovemyshed · 27/02/2026 21:31

Well my cat would adore that. My menopausal self, bah.

Clafoutie · 27/02/2026 21:32

It is so hard to imagine how it can possibly be such a different experience to a ‘normal’ duvet to justify that price. Just mind boggling.

LucyLoo1972 · 27/02/2026 21:32

GoGoSuperBug · 27/02/2026 21:03

Wow 😮 I thought my £300 one was extravagant.

yes I sent £200 once for a four seasons and was racked with guilt for years!

faithfultoGeorgeMichael · 27/02/2026 21:32

They make like 400 a year and all of Royalty have them - it's a very rare and special thing and I will have one in a second if I win the Euromillions 😂

MiddleAgedDread · 27/02/2026 21:35

This is not just any duvet, this is a John Lewis hand plucked rare duck duvet that’s warm enough to sleep naked through an Icelandic winter duvet.

fuck a duck that’s a pricey piece of bedding!!
