I suppose there is that thing that Dear Orange Leader has millions of barrels of stolen VZ oil he is trying to flog.

I saw claims that Barron had bought oil two days before the bombing.

The news said US companies with spare oil will do very well out of it.

DuncinToffee · 09/03/2026 08:38

There’s an emergency meeting of G7 finance ministers later to discuss the economic impact of Trump and Netanyahu’s war, including oil prices.

South Korea has imposed a cap on petrol prices for the first time in 30 years.

The Chaos Agent in the White House has wrecked everything.

And I'm sure the Tangoed Tyrant will tell us yet again, that he doesn't give a shit.

He does seem to like the old hair oil.

Taiwan has 90 days reserves that it is now using.

Couple that with the US using up all it's anti missile stuff, and we can be sure the invasion planners are working overtime.

A timely reminder I suppose, that Iran is not the only authoritarian state. CNN:

"Qatar arrests 313 people for alleged misuse of social media related to "current situation"

By Billy Stockwell

Qatar’s ministry of interior called on the public to refrain from filming, publishing video or circulating what it called “rumours related to the current situation,” while announcing it had arrested more than 300 people for alleged misuse of social media platforms.
“The arrests were made for filming and circulating unauthorized video clips, spreading misleading information and rumours, and disseminating content intended to incite public concern,” the ministry said in a statement.
It asked members of the public to “refrain from filming, publishing video clips, or circulating rumours related to the current situation,” adding that people should obtain information solely from “approved official sources.”
Qatar is not the only country which seeks to control the way information spreads during times of conflict."

Barron first in line to sign up? Go Barron, Pigly and - oh, here he is, peacemongering - Tony Blair are behind you. Parents of Anerica "Be the first one on your block to have your boy brought home in a box". RIP Country Joe.

Yes.

The chaos was the point of putting someone like Trump in.

One of the Tory brexiteers admitted they put Boris Johnson in as Prime Minister for the same reason: "he thrashes around and breaks things."
(Quote from memory so may not be exact.)

They're a gift to the disruptionists and disaster opportunists, because they create so much disaster. <shrug>

If you need a giggle, listen to the first (?) caller to the Nick Ferrari breakfast show (about 7.35ish) on LBC this morning. I snorted laughing and startled the dogs!

Justdancevance · 09/03/2026 13:22

I do enjoy Michael Wolff’s summing up of Trump, basically he’s nuts thinks he’s living in a movie where things like ‘unconditional surrender’ are possible.

He also said that Trump has been extraordinarily lucky so people have stuck with him because of that. Scumbags like Lady Graham. The only thing worse than Graham’s cowardice is his open greed

However it looks like that good fortune is crashing down around him

Napoleons view on life springs to mind.

Not sure about Trump agreeing with him being a lame duck.

PerkingFaintly · 09/03/2026 14:07

Yeah, obviously Trump doesn't think of himself like that.

Everyone around him, though, knows he's not well.

How many wasted opportunities? The COVID pandemic, the BLM riots, the stolen election, this.

And has he ever used that as his Reichstag fire? Has he ever used it to actually expand or institutionalize his political power? No, no.

Dictator ?

Well there was that position in the Roman republic. And the US is explicitly modelled on the Roman republic (presumably to excuse the slavery).

PerkingFaintly · 09/03/2026 14:23

People like that always imagine that the dictator will deliver what they themselves imagine they want.

They don't seem to have any insight that:
(a) a dictator might turn out to be against them, and
(b) even if they get what they imagine they want, it so very often turns out not to be want they want.

I've followed up this thing about Leavitt and a US military draft.

I could only find her saying she couldn't take it off the table but it wasn't part of the current plan.

Of course this administration lie as they breathe, so accord that what value you will. But although the reporting is strictly true, it doesn't convey quite the same impression as Leavitt.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/leavitt-says-ground-troops-iran-not-currently-being-considered-doesnt-rule-out

I think it's highly unlikely and it would result in numerous 'equal treatment' lawsuits as it currently applies only to males. I'd assume it would end up with an injunction and fast track to SCOTUS.

However, <undue hysteria alert> that being said if I was a young person aged 19-26 I'd be packing my 'go-bag', stashing some cash, and figuring the quickest driving route to Canada or Mexico. At this point I wouldn't plan on flying as that's too easily 'traceable' by DHS.

SerendipityJane · 09/03/2026 14:50

fast track to SCOTUS

So decades rather than centuries. (Assuming they deign to hear the case).

RedTagAlan · 09/03/2026 15:25

Oh FFS

"Trump tells Australia to grant Iran footballers asylum - or the US will
Donald Trump has posted on his social media platform again.
The Australian government has come under pressure to protect Iran's women's team after they were knocked out of the Asian Cup.
In a development today, five players have reportedly fled the training camp to see refuge in the country.

And now Trump has weighed in, writing: "Australia is making a terrible humanitarian mistake by allowing the Iran National Woman's Soccer team to be forced back to Iran, where they will most likely be killed.
"Don't do it, Mr. Prime Minister, give ASYLUM. The U.S. will take them if you won't."
"

Sky.

I do wonder what the hangers on (looks at Farage) are doing for their own mental health to survive being whipped around as they gamely try to hang on to Trumps swishing ?
