I looked him up. Apparently it's the name of two uncles, Mark and Wayne. His mum put both on the birth certificate meaning to pick one, but never got around to it.

I can't criticize as my own mum's first name was her mum's two sisters but at least they formed a 'real' name (think Marianne or Rosemarie for example).

I don't know anything about this guy. My DS1's reaction was two words "Suck up".

Interestingly he's a member of the Cherokee Nation. So a rare bird in US national politics.

An unarmed Iranian ship was takIng part in an Indian naval exercise, alongside the US.

His parents probably argued about what they would call him when they registered his birth.

Do we know the name of the exercise? If so, the ships involved should be listed somewhere, I would think, and we do know the name of the one that was sunk, the Iris Dena. And she is indeed in the list given in Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ships_present_at_International_Fleet_Review_2026

Whether she was unarmed or not, who can say.

go to the BBC, seek England, seek golf course wine cellar
then go to google and search "happy"
it will take about a week
but then the algorithm will keep feeding you the same.

also, try to fill your feed with happy history and nature

There are lots of happy news stories
seek them out

I have seen the videos of young men barely in their 20s marching in the Indian city of Vishakapatnam. Looks like legit video. Apparently both US navy and Iran navy participated in this multinational exercise. It’s awful that you do the exercise together and sink the ship afterwards!

Whatever you think about the Iranian regime (and the killing of protesters was evil) most of the men in the navy will just be ordinary non-evil people. It's the same for soldiers in the Russian army (though I don't think the Ukrainians have much choice, the death toll is still a tragedy) and almost every war if course. But they were just young men doing their job at the end of the day.

The earlier post about the White House releasing video from Iran containing footage from Call of Duty had me very confused.
I was imagining Hastings shouting "Jesus, Mary, Joseph and the wee donkey" over images of exploding buildings.
So not Line of Duty...
