Donald Trump said he must be involved in picking Iran's supreme leader after the incumbent, Ali Khamenei, was killed by US-Israeli strikes.

Statements by Iranian officials yesterday suggested they were "close" to announcing Khamenei's successor, with his son, Mojtaba, considered among the frontrunners.

Responding to the reports, Trump told US outlet Axios:

"They are wasting their time. Khamenei's son is a lightweight. I have to be involved in the appointment, like with Delcy [Rodriguez] in Venezuela."

He was referencing the US capture of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, who was replaced by Rodriguez, his vice president.

Trump praised the cooperation with Rodriguez yesterday, saying Venezuelan "oil is beginning to flow" to the US.

Trump also told Axios he refuses to accept a new Iranian leader who would continue Khamenei's policies, which he said would force the US back to war "in five years."

"Khamenei's son is unacceptable to me. We want someone that will bring harmony and peace to Iran," Trump said."

On your question: Is this hypothetical Quaker School person rich or have rich parent(s) or ones holding political office? If not, then no. Only if he's still in school can he can get a deferment.

Actual Quakers are eligible for Conscientious Objector status as are the other historic 'peace churches'; The Mennonites, The Amish, and Church of the Brethren (my mother's family's church). Members of other religions may qualify but it's not automatic like with the historic ones.

I'm lucky that both my sons are over draft age. Not that I think the draft will be reinstated. That would open a HUGE can of worms.
