Interestingly, as far as I know one of the 'recruiter's' of the Socialist Society is/was today on the right side of the Conservative Party ! The point being we were young, inexperienced and allowed to learn from our own experiences. Thus, unlike today it was easier to find the pathway suitable to our beliefs and able to change without the threat of harm physical or social cancellation. The fate which faces many students who might be/are likely to turn their back on Corbynista/Green Politics. I also guess another reason why initially i learned 'Red' I was very much taken in by Atlee's a country fit for heroes and William Beveridge's ideas about Welfare and the NHS.

Of course the ideas of Beveridge and Bevan centered around appropriate need and not flagrant abuse of resources. Other, reasons being quite incredible (in comparison with the current Labour Party) a support for 'Selective Education' a highly potent and viable Military Air-Force and Navy. Clem Attle and Nye Bevan were no 'Pacifists' nor would they have tolerated any UK territory or property needing to be guarded by the Greeks !

A few days old, but Starmer has absolutely FUCKED it with our allies:

“The Americans contacted UK officials on 11 February to ask about the use of the bases – 17 days before the offensive began, 17 days in which Britain could have done much more to prepare. The request was not that Britain join the decapitation strikes but help to protect Gulf allies from likely Iranian retaliation. Starmer and his ministers were shocked by the undiluted fury of their Middle East allies that more had not been done to protect them. Jordan was ‘fucking furious’, a former minister with friends in Amman says. ‘The Emiratis and Kuwaitis are all asking, “What the fuck are you doing? Whose side are you on?”’ The Emiratis pointed out that Britain was failing to help protect the 240,000 British citizens living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. After the initial US request, Britain could have sent two Type-45 destroyers, which have air defence capabilities, to the eastern Mediterranean to protect Cyprus and Jordan. Instead, some military assets were withdrawn. ‘The Cypriots are incandescent,’ a security source reveals. Only on Tuesday did it emerge that HMS Dragon will deploy – 20 days after the first US request for support. The only available Astute class submarine was near Australia. ‘It passed through the Gulf area a few weeks ago and it could have been kept there as a contingency,’ a former commander says. Security officials now fear Britain is ‘in an incoherent position’ by allowing the US to use our bases to attack Iranian missile sites as an act of self-defence but refusing to launch such attacks ourselves. One calls it ‘unconscionable’ and accuses Starmer of ‘free riding’. A former defence chief brands it ‘reprehensible’. The fear is that the Americans will now cut out Britain and strike a deal of their own with Mauritius for the use of Diego Garcia. In Whitehall, however, there is a fear that the intensity of Labour’s feelings is matched by their irrelevance. A former Downing Street adviser says: ‘The way we’ve behaved towards our allies in the last week means no one cares what we think and we have zero capacity to shape things.'"

I do enjoy a good snort of laughter in the evening and Boris Johnson did not disappoint.

Starmer has made Britain something worse than a laughing stock - he's made us a piffling irrelevance

They're all saying what we've said on here. It's absolutely mortifying. If Russia was minded to make a move we're comprehensively. Fooked

Yep, its so bad. I'm surprised Healey didn't get egged when he went to Cyprus.
The Cypriot Foreign Minister has said similar again in interviews today. It's unforgivable.

Absolute joke, yet Starmer is being praised by some who think he's shown excellent leadership and stood up to Trump.

Nye Bevan would have been incensed by the abuse of the NHS it was never intended to be a free for all no questions asked.

The nerve of Healey he was probably given a dressing down behind closed doors.

Also worth noting that there is now a French frigate off coast of Cyprus. It may have been closer to Cyprus so could get there faster, but crucially it was ready and prepared to leave Toulouse.
The Dragon will be ready some time next week.

Even the Cristóbal Colón from Spain is there. Spain! Starmer has literally made himself look worse than Dirty Sanchez.

Jakers. Neanderthal knuckle draggers at it again against school children.

I really can't understand the hate that's been stirred up since October 7th. Who's behind it all

What I'm most upset about is how humiliating it is for our armed forces. They deserve better than this.

Don't they just. I worked for a military charity, veterans a great bunch who will be raging.

caringcarer · 06/03/2026 21:03

I'm so sick of Starmer and his stupid Labour party. I hear they want to pay illegal immigrants up to £40k per family to go back home. As soon as the money runs out they will be back again expecting more. How stupid are they? At the same time he's seriously pissing off the US and they are supposed to be our biggest ally. NF is hoping to smooth it over when he visits Trump at Mar a Lago this weekend.

Disgusting that this is happening to Jewish people in the UK. Even worse that these are just children.

Apologies if it's been mentioned but I'm reading about this big hjt that's coming to Iran and the USA are landing here and in Cyprus.
Or chagos

Did we stymie their initial attack by a lack of landing places ?
A week in what are they bombing now ? Surely all top.brass left are safely hidden or will they go for the drones?

JaneV1984Madness · 06/03/2026 21:29

@caringcarer every benefit we offer is abused
We can't keep up with all the tricks criminals use. It's much easier to come here and exploit isn't it .
This is another scheme that chancers will bleed dry
And to be honest I may try and become one
Get myself to Calais and burn my passport , risk the seas and claim assaulym...and get paid 40 grand. What's not to love

A mix we're defending Kuwait, Qatar Dubai Etc from drones and missiles. Israel is bombing Lebanon and Iran, USA just Iran I think.

@SpaceRaccoon thank you for sharing that - I've been hearing about this article.

@justasking111 😱😱 Boris Johnson really needs to keep quiet. Not all of these types, he won't except that he's done anything wrong.
