Please help me with comfortable knickers

I have worn M&S full knickers size 18 since I had my DDs - I loved them and they were always comfortable. Then I lost weight and bought the same in a smaller size 12- I constantly have an uncomfortable knicker-up-the-bum situation and it's genuinely getting me down. I went up sizes - even all the way back up to a size 18. Nothing is right anymore.

People on here always recommend M&S full briefs, so is my bum just deformed or misshapen after weight loss? It looks normal-ish to the untrained eye. The gussets (shiver, hate that word) just seem so narrow 😩. I teach all day and cannot be constantly waiting to rearrange my underwear!

Please recommend me something reasonably priced which might help!

Stripe and Stare are great but not the cheapest. Maybe keep an eye for when they have sales.

AgnesX · 25/02/2026 17:56

Innersey sold on Amazon are worth a go. Nice quality (although not as cheap as supermarkets or M&S) and fit well.

Boody

propercoppercoffeepot · 25/02/2026 17:57

George asda full briefs are comfortable for me - i was size 20 down to a size 10. I too have an odd bottom!

clarrylove · 25/02/2026 17:57

Wirarpa on Amazon are v good.

FourForksSake · 25/02/2026 18:30

M&S high rise shorts.

Figtree11 · 25/02/2026 18:42

M&S body bikini knickers are my new go to

Plusplug · 25/02/2026 18:57

Thank you for all the suggestions - I'll start looking up some of these.

It's M&S that I'm having such problems with, which has really knocked my faith in the world because of there's one thing I thought I could rely on, it's M&S knickers! There just doesn't seem to be enough material now, despite there being 5 stone less of me.

Boody, most comfortable knickers ever.

M&S high rise shorts.

Came here to say these! The Flexifit microfibre ones are very comfortable, seem wider around the back due to them being ‘shorts shape’ and having a lower leg. Also the leg holes have a panel of stretchy material rather than the usual scratchy leg elastic. They do them in a full option as well but I haven’t tried them so can’t comment on whether they ride up or not.

Allseeingallknowing · 25/02/2026 19:25

OP I agree with you about M&S. For some unknown reason they are making the gusset narrower on some pants, making them uncomfortable, and difficult to hold a panty liner. Due to the enthusiasm about Wirapa I bought some and though they are very comfy, the material they’re made from means the liner does not stick to the gusset, making it at risk of falling into the loo. The search for perfect pants goes on!

Boody full briefs - expensive but so comfy

ScaryM0nster · 25/02/2026 19:37

Stripe and stare have a weirdly wide gusset compared to most other pants.

They’re really thin fabric which if you’re used to M&S full in cotton will seem quite different. But they seem to wear reasonably well.

shellyleppard · 25/02/2026 19:38

Bon marche do some really comfy full briefs. No pot holing (creeping up your bum) either

These are the comfiest pants! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E482673-000/00?colorDisplayCode=09&sizeDisplayCode=003&sv1=affiliate&sv_campaign_id=863943&awc=6771_1772048476_156a646f794250e9438f42ed9a150568&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=863943

they have a high rise which I have too

great for exercise as well

PropertyD · 25/02/2026 20:06

Stripe and Stare are good but they don’t hold a liner well. You need to find some that say extra secure to ensure they stick down and don’t end up stuck to your leg or worse fall out the bottom of our trousers. It nearly happened to me..

borisjohnsonsliedetector · 25/02/2026 20:19

Innersey as sold on Amazon. Not necessarily the cheapest but if you're after full coverage, comfy waistbands that dont cut you in half with elastic like cheesewire and none of the frou frou silly bows like other underwear then these are what you need.

NormasArse · 25/02/2026 20:20

Boody- excellent knickers!

Fabellini · 25/02/2026 20:21

Another vote for Boody, extremely comfy!

WhoWouldBeAWoman · 25/02/2026 20:24

Thanks for posting. I replaced my much loved M&S high rise pants recently to find there wasn't enough material to cover my (not massive) bum. Tried thy size down, still poor. Tried quite a few other high street shops equivalent but none are comfy.
I'll have a look at others' suggestions.

PropertyD · 25/02/2026 20:25

Innersey are best for no vpl and I do like them but that grey gusset often peels off. I had to send a pack to them when 2 pairs did it

RetainersinSpainnotontheplane · 25/02/2026 20:54

Throwing my vote in for Stripe & Stare. The most comfortable pants ever. I’ve phased out all my older ones with them now and won’t wear anything else.

Disclaimer though they do have to be air dried flat to keep them in nice condition. I just bought a little radiator rack cheap and throw em on there.

If you have a Blue Light Card it’s 20% off full price which does make them slightly less pricy.

I was coming to say Innersy too! Haven't bought knickers from anywhere else since I found them.
