This Irish man, married to a US citizen and in the process of getting a Green Card, was arrested in a random immigration sweep while out shopping. When he was arrested he was carrying a Massachusetts driving licence and a valid work permit.
ICE asked him to sign a form agreeing to deportation. He refused and ticked the box to contest his arrest. A judge ordered his release, for which he paid a $4000 bond. However despite him paying the bond, ICE have continued to detain him.
ICE have now rocked up in court with documents where he supposedly agrees to deportation. Except he states the signatures aren't his.
He's been detained for five months so far and is in a cell in Texas shared by 70 men with inadequate access to hygiene and medical treatment.
