The mistake Farage made was in not going there in a hospital ship.

So in a group chat with a friend in the UK, apparently Farage also went to NZ, and flights were 50K GB.

I can't find info here, but this photo from GB news is very suspect. I reckon modified.

It has been de-saturated to make it appear dull and overcast. But note the clouds, and the sunglasses around his neck of course. I can also see a fishing rod there, right at his feet.

Even with a cheap camera phone, it would not be easy to make such a photo look so glum. Especially in the Maldives, if that is where it is.

I assume that is his guide behind him, in the red shirt, with can of beer ? Stuff at his feet, fishing kit ? It won't be a member of the public as such, privacy and all that.

Re Farage, Mandy and Andy:

With talk of treason being in the air, then stories like this in the press:

Nigel Farage turned away from Chagos Islands by strict border controls | News World | Metro News

"Ben Wallace, the former defence secretary, accused Mr Farage of attempting ‘MAGA stunts’."

So let me get this right. A sitting member of the UK Parliament is doing very expensive political stunts likely to be beneficial to a foreign Government, headed by his pal, and against the national interests of the UK ?

I am putting aside the politics of the Chagos issue here, but stuff lke this does make me question who Farage has allegiance to. Does he work for his Clacton constituents, or the President of the United States ?

Is Reform a political party yet, subject to funding laws, or is it still a Farage owned company ?

He only ever turned up at the EU to vote against things that harmed Russian interests.

@RedTagAlan I'm currently ill as hell with flu. I might mainline lemsip and watch SOTU for kicks.

Wouldn’t that worsen your health dramatically? (I hope you get over your fly soon.)

They also appear to have the problem that it is not true. Certainly not in the case of this fella.

When have they ever let the truth get in the way of their own fake news?

Mandy has been arrested in the U.K. is the difference. Something tells me he’ll sing like a canary to ensure he’s not extradited to the US…

I'm not sure misconduct in office is an extraditable offence, since the misconduct is against the UK, unless they have something of a different nature to charge him with.

In his shoes, probably better to be charged with in the US as orange turd would promise a pardon.

Can't see AMW being extradited.

Can't see AMW being extradited.

It could only happen if the US were proactively pursing criminal investigations into crimes committed on their jurisdiction which.....

The UK can pursue crimes that fall within it's jurisdiction so we should.

Would you trust Trump on that? I wouldn’t 😵‍💫

To be fair, JE ended up in prison too.

And surely she does have power, because if she decides to talk...

... she'll end up as dead as her boyfriend did.

I think when it hits the fan, Farage's allegiance is exclusively to Farage.

This is an interesting one.

France's row with US ambassador Charles Kushner heats up after meeting no-show | World News | Sky News

A reminder, Trump pardoned Charles Kushner. I recall he was convicted of tax evasion and witness tampering. He paid a prostitute to honey trap a business partner ( Brother in law I think) , video taped them to force testimony. He was jailed.

And Trump Pardoned him and made him Ambassador to France.

And lets face it, an ambassador really just has one real job. To go to meetings when called. Not bad for $225k a year plus perks.

Trump always picks the best.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/02/2026 13:56

Having watched events unfold over the past year I have come to the conclusion that Trump has only one job: to sabotage the United States of America past repair in every possible way.

All his appointments seem to be of people either corrupt or incompetent, or both, while some are of actual criminals, while he actively rids himself of anyone worth a light; all his policies tend towards making things worse at home, and towards driving allies into no longer wanting to do business with the USA or indeed to have anything to do with them; everything he touches turns to dross.

The real question might be the same as the one for Farage; who is Trump's paymaster? A secondary one might be, is Trump aware of it, or is he now too far gone in dementia to realise what he is doing or who is pulling his strings?

SerendipityJane · 24/02/2026 14:21

Serpentstooth · 24/02/2026 17:33

No need to ask though is there, really? Infiltration, both politically and via established institutions and buying up property - balcony preferred, so useful - since the 1990s. It would be terrible to say that everyone of note has been paid off, so I won't.

Cue round two of Scrotus trying to defund public broadcasting. Luckily that majority of NPR funding comes from corporate sponsors and viewers.

So, I've heard/read/bandied about the various things going on tonight. There is an alternative Dem SOTU as well as scuttlebutt about boycotts, walkouts, and even heckling. So it may be worth tuning in after all, even if all I hear is one 'You lie!' a la Joe Wilson (R-SC) to Obama in 2009. Why not? After all 'they started it'.

Personally, I think I'd love it if someone would stage whisper "He's losing it" and start tittering and then others joined in until there was raucous hilarity throughout the chamber. Can't decide between him having a coronary or an apoplexy. Maybe both?

I will be holding the remote in my hand for a quick channel change, just in case his words make me feel a coronary or apoplexy coming on. Or maybe it'd be worth the trip to a local dispensary and pick up a disposable weed vape. Then hopefully he'd just make me laugh hysterically.

I’ve never heard Scuttlebutt before, it’s very appealing. Sounds like a Dickensian character.

Thanks. 👍

Apologies for absence, I’m in a manic period at work and barely finding time to keep up with the thread let alone post!

Place marking ahead of SOTU: Pod Save America think there’s a good chance 🍊 will completely lose his shit at some point in his, expected, marathon waffling session With the SCOTUS justice’s sitting in the front row and Dem’s reportedly bringing Epstein accusers as guests it’s anyone’s guess what will trigger him….

Visiting his parents apparently.

Agents with the FBI’s elite evidence response team were delayed in reaching the scene of a mass shooting at Brown University in December because there was no FBI plane available to take them to Rhode Island, according to three sources and a whistleblower’s account newly provided to Congress.
FBI Director Kash Patel was in south Florida at the time with one of the FBI’s two available jets and had given an order to hold the other for another team that would not normally respond to the scene, according to the whistleblower and the sources. The evidence response team instead had to drive through the night amid a snowstorm to reach the university in Providence, Rhode Island, by 9 o’clock the next morning, according to the whistleblower’s account.
