What automatically makes you think people are idiots?

For me it’s:

people who think that Michael Jackson isn’t a pedophile.

people who say things like “Londanistan” “Bradfordistan”

People who say “If the Holocaust is real, why do the tattoo numbers only go up to 5 digits”

OP posts:

People who have got good incomes, plenty of money stashed away in savings, mortgage paid off that come on mumsnet and ask, ‘Am I doing ok financially?’

YES.

"Only earning £100,000 a year between us and we only own one BTL property outright as well as our home and two cars, feels like we're on the breadline, are we doing ok financially?"

👊 Instant throat punch

People who think other people are idiots.

People who post about their job on social media, when confidentiality should probably come first. Do they want a badge for doing what they do?

OMG this reminds me of the dreadful 'sticker' people used to stick over their profile pic during the covid pandemic saying 'I HAVE TO GO TO WORK! I'M A KEY WORKER!' 😖 Used to make me cringe. And then there was the one where people used to post 'I'VE HAD MY COVID VACCINE,' like it made them a better person than those who hadn't. 🙄

I'm not anti vax, but I just thought it was a bit nobby to post on social media that you've had your covid jab. Like, who CARES? And as I say, the 'I'm a key worker, I HAVE TO GO TO WORK!' thing used to rankle me too

When people refer to neurodivergence as neurospicy

Anyone who says that they attended the University of Life or the School of Hard Knocks.

It doesn't even make a modicum of sense. Surely you're just inviting the people whom you're patronising to respond with "Ah, yes, so did/do I - we all do... but as well as that, I also went to university/college/whatever and studied to earn a degree/other qualification!"

It's not like people go to university instead of living everyday life; and surely if you happen to be older and have more life experience, how thick is it to be criticising/blaming a young person for being born considerably later than you were, as though it's some kind of character failing?!

Or 'yourself'. Bloody Traitors has a lot to answer for.

I voted Remain but I think people who voted Remain who trot out sanctimonious tripe about all Leave voters being stupid are stupid.

Aye pet, sure you do.

AntiqueBabyLoanSmurf · 05/02/2026 22:41

I don't drink alcohol at all, but I absolutely get why many adults enjoy alcohol at a sensible level (as long as they stay well clear from the driver's seat of a car).

However, I cannot think it anything other than a sign of utter stupidity when people deliberately go out for the night with the full intention of drinking so much alcohol that they will lose all ability to remember the evening or to take basic responsibility for themselves. The people who see it as admirable, and a badge of pride, to plan to get so intoxicated that they will be reliant on other people - often strangers; maybe the emergency services - to make sure they can get home safely.

It's a normal, naturally-comforting thing as a little child to know that you can do pretty much any crazy thing you like as your mood takes you, knowing that an adult will be responsible for you, protecting you from harm and making sensible decisions to keep you safe... but when you're an adult (without learning difficulties or other vulnerabilities)...???

Someone who starts a relationship with a man, knowing he has an extensive violent criminal history, and expect to be treated well by him.

People who think it’s okay to park their car on the footpath.

People who take their dogs into children’s play parks, ignoring the ‘no dogs’ signs.

People who refuse to engage in healthy debate with those with opposing views.

People who don't clear up after their dog

Women who have babies with violent criminals

Oh I did, but Remainers like you are an embarrassment. I expect you have neither the imagination nor critical capability to understand why groups like deep sea fishers voted Leave? Or do you think they are just nasty racists?

JuliettaCaeser · 05/02/2026 22:44

Anyone that says “feminism has gone too far” or similar I immediately consign in my head as not my type.

Also anyone that’s proud of being a non reader.

Pipsquiggle · 05/02/2026 22:47

Anyone who can't critically think.

People who refuse to change their mind and remain entrenched in their stance even when EVERY FACT proves otherwise.

Anyone who thinks Farage is a good bloke and has the best intentions for the country.

Anyone who thinks Trump is a good president.

Anyone who can't do basic questioning of any stance by a politician - what's their agenda? Do they want power, money or both? Who is funding them and what do they want?

Antivaxxers and pro-life campaigners

Brexit voters - particularly those who still think it was the right decision

This who are taken in by Andrew Tate & his BS

Anyone who thinks Tommy Robinson and the thugs that follow him are 'standing up for Britain'

Iamsotiredandfedup · 05/02/2026 22:50

People that run in lowercase for a bus or train, either pelt it like you mean it or just give up

Geography students. What kind of twat needs a degree to tell them where they are?

Dappy777 · 05/02/2026 22:52
  • Buying or reading The Sun.
  • Mindlessly regurgitating liberal-left views on every f-ing issue because they think it makes them sound cool.
  • Being obsessed with celebrity gossip.
  • Either never reading books or having to be reading what everybody else is reading. Richard Coles? Nah, you’re OK. I’ve got 3,000 years of great literature to choose from.

Thankfully I have an EU passport. I live in rural England. Doing great thanks.

People (especially women) who pretend that they believe men with a sexual fetish who claim they are women are actually women.
They should be paraded through the streets with the Game of Thrones "shame."
They should be ridiculed and humiliated all day, every day.

Fingalscave · 05/02/2026 23:11

People who think spelling doesn't matter.
People who think a man becomes a woman by chopping his bits off and putting a frock on.
People who think men should be allowed into female-only spaces.

clickyteeclick · 05/02/2026 23:11

People who complain about being skint and having to wait till payday… but always getting their nails done.

Transphobia

I have a few friends who home educate and are very vocal about it on social media. They can just about form a sentence. I despair for their poor children being denied a decent education by parents who can’t even use punctuation.

What is transphobia? What gets me is men wanting to have access to women's spaces, sports etc because they 'feel like a woman'. Is that by any chance transphobia because if so, I'm it.
