Job application support thread

I’ve been looking and applying since September. I had one job offer but the conditions were not great so I declined it. I’m really struggling now, applications take so long and I’m not being shortlisted, I used to get shortlisted for pretty much everything I applied for!
anyone else also losing the will to live?

@fashionqueen0123 that sucks! @WhyWouldSomeoneDoThat i tend to avoid recruitment agencies at all costs!!

I would say this. Apply apply apply. I’ve got a part time admin job for a housing association but already I’ve been talked to about training courses and how to work my way up and go full time if I want to. So be mindful of that, eg a part time can go full time. Foot in door is good idea. Lots of small bonuses to working there too. Beauty of this job is no pressure, easy on times, hybrid working, nice people. Couldn’t be happier. Bit boring is only downside. Even better I can drive and park there! Sod commuting to London via train like I used to do.

I’m trying to find part time and they all bloody want full time! Or part time but hours all over the shop

My confidence has been shot to pieces.
I used to get shortlisted for pretty much any job I applied to. The job market is so bad. I feel a complete lack of motivation. I spend so long tailoring my applications and it feels so pointless.

Same. I’ve never not got an interview or infact the job before! I’ve been in pools of hundreds of applications and always got it. Recently I’ve been coming close but not the final job. Or heard nothing or been rejected!

I'm applying for everything too and not hearing anything back, it's very disheartening. Have not had much success with recruitment agencies either but one of them did get me an interview which is a first for me. ( I didn't get the job however!)

Are you feeding it to AI and asking if it would pass the ATS for the job role?

PinkPomeloFruit · 20/06/2026 07:52

@PineFox yes of course.
