*Common as in popular!

12 yr old DC has an inordinate number of female friends called Isabelle/Isabella/Isabel/Isobel and other variants of the same.
I would say at least 10.
The male equivalent is Hugo.
There are 5 I can think of without trying too hard.
We are based in the SE home counties.

What are the most popular names in your DC/s friendship groups?

Isla and Axel. Lots of them.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 24/01/2026 21:21

Dc are 9 and 10.

Popular names are Lily, Evie and Olivia.
For boys, William (5 out of 7 boys at one party we attended!) . Theo, Henry.

My eldest DC is in preschool & there’s 3 Albies (boys) in his class.

Currently on my second Maternity leave and go to baby sensory and a messy play group, popular names seem to be: Luca, Isabelle (a few different spellings) Harper and Hallie/Callie

I know when a friends little girl started reception there was 3 Nevaeh’s (Heaven backwards 🙈) in the class… that name seems to have lost popularity now.

I don’t know any, but popular girls names seem to be: Olivia, Grace, Amelia, Isla… I see those a lot.

Are you in North London 😆

DC are older now, but for younger children I'm here to tell you that Otillie is the new Isla.

Yes, “O” female names are definitely on the rise in popularity: Otillie, Odette, Olive, Ophelia…Maybe Olivia’s getting the heave ‘ho.

Pigriver · 24/01/2026 21:39

Both kids have pretty diverse friendship groups. Eldest knows Luca/Lucas and Elijah/Alijah. Oh and 2 Harry's.

Youngest is in a class with 2 Theo's

That's it

I'm pretty sure my DDs school put all the Islas and Isabelle variants in one group on a school trip as a prank on a teacher (12 of them, from different year groups).
I know a lot of Primary age boys called Edward.

DD is the only Isla in her year group of 200. Shes named after her great grandmother.

Wow. Where are you? There are about 5 or 6 in every primary year group here.

Firebird83 · 24/01/2026 21:45

DS is in Year 3 and there are 2 children each of these names: Reuben, Florence, Violet and Joshua

DD has multiples of Beatrice, Mabel, Kit and Felix at her nursery

Allswellthatendswelll · 24/01/2026 21:45

I taught a class with an Eva, Evie and Eve in it. They would be about 10 now so it must have been big in the mid 2010a. Lots of Isla's in the year above.

Every boy I know born between 2017-2020 is called Leo. Or a few Theos!

DS is in reception and there are no duplicates but every popular name is in there. Outside of school we know a fair few toddlers called Wilf. Also come across lots of Phoebes recently!

Having done this has made me realise I can never remember the babies names who I meet at classes!

Thingsthatgo · 24/01/2026 21:46

DS13 - Max, Riley, Jack, Ollie, Lily, Olivia, Evie, Mia and Grace.
DD11 George, Teddy, Freddie, Arlo, Summer, Evie and Isabelle.

sleeppleasesoon · 24/01/2026 21:47

There are 3 Jackson/Jaxon’s in my sons year 5 class.

Girls seem more mixed but definitely a theme of Eva,Ada,Ava for girls in year 2.

Wales.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 24/01/2026 21:48

We know three Lyra's, three Isabella/ Isobel variants, several Olivers.

PiggieWig · 24/01/2026 21:50

Loads of Ollys in my teen son’s cohort. Slightly older son is surrounded by Harrys.

thisisajoke22 · 24/01/2026 20:09

So. Many. Judes.

I nearly called ds Jude but changed my mind after he was born and we come across loads now!

PinkChaires · 24/01/2026 21:50

Dd in y13 seems to know alot of caitlyns

Letsgoforawalkbythesea · 24/01/2026 21:51

Two Theo’s in DS’s reception class (there are only ten children in it.) The year above has two Darcy’s. Also know a couple of Everleys which isn’t a name I’ve come across before. I also hear Hallie quite a lot.

I have never actually met an Olivia in the wild despite attending so many baby / toddler groups. It’s my DDs middle name though.

Gowlett · 24/01/2026 21:51

Olivia. Isobel / Isabelle etc… Hannah. My DS is 5.

tourdefrance · 24/01/2026 21:52

This thread reminds me why I chose a name not in top 50 for ds1 and only just for ds2!

Harassedmum123 · 24/01/2026 21:52

DC 13 everyone is called Ava or Isla. She knows at least five of each . Boys seem a bit more varied but still a few Luca, Lucas, Charlie, Will and Harry.

Genxhausted · 24/01/2026 21:52

Olie, Oliver , Evie, Alfie, Albie, Charlie Basically names that end in ie.

Idontthinkicandothisanymore · 24/01/2026 21:56

Amelia. There were 4 in her class at primary. They all got called by their surnames. They put 3 of them together in the comp class too.

MotherOfCrocodiles · 24/01/2026 21:57

Elizabeta · 24/01/2026 22:18

WanderlustMom · 24/01/2026 22:25
