it really seems to me that it's now incontrovertible that he has dementia.

Once again, I will be the contrary voice here. I am as sick of hearing about "Trumps health" as I am about all these "breaking stories" we've had for the past 12 months when fuck all has happened.

I watched a lot of his campaign rallies, especially in the lead up to and through his first term, and he has always been the same. I follow US politics in general.

I would say he has degraded a bit for sure, but he has always been a compulsive liar, boaster, conflationist, revisionist...and dumb as a sack of spuds.

And it was always said, by many, that one reason he got elected was because of the media sanewashing him. And if everyone had been exposed to his actual words he said, then he likely would not have been elected.

I actually felt the same until 3 days ago. Didn't think the dementia rumours were worth thinking about one way or the other. The last 3 days has changed my mind on this fundamentally: I DO think he's got dementia and at this point whatever other arguments there are it's unethical that he's allowed to stay in power.
I fully understand your position though.

The TL;DR is that Trump got in because a bunch of cunts scared decent people into thinking they were weak. Yes, MAGAnauts, I do mean you.

I disagree. The moments when people didn’t abandon him after his “grab em by the pussy” comment and his disgraceful mimicry of a disabled reporter, during his first election campaign, were the turning points where anything he did was acceptable and he was bound to be elected by those whose moral turpitude was equal to his own.
