Are you in pain? Where?

I am having a high pain day, my hip and legs hurt (recovering from surgery in November), my back hurts, my shoulders, collar bones, arms, elbows and wrists hurt. My thumb hurts, the top of my back hurts. My right ankle is sore.

I don’t think I’ve got a day in my life pain free, I assume on some level that’s normal, we are all just in pain and pushing through it all.

come have a moan about your pain with me!

@FurForksSake my back hips and hand so far today. Cold weather not helping. But apart from sitting wrapped up in a heat blanket not much I can do

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 10:46

I feel you, I’ve got a weighted heated blanket on my shoulders. The wet and cold really do not help!

The joints in my hands are flaring up today - arthritis is a recent addition to other things grumbling. It's surprising just how painful a tiny finger joint can be! Heat seems to be the best treatment. My back is behaving, thankfully.

Sorry you are having a lot of pain OP, I think many of us can relate!

TwattingDog · 20/01/2026 10:50

Migraine on my left side this morning, so my head feels like I've been stabbed in the left temple and it's really heavy to hold up.

Right hip is sore too, I'm seeing the orthopaedic surgeon on Friday to see what the hell is wrong with it. It clunks, cracks, and hurts in different places (inside and outside the joint) when I walk. I'm currently sitting and the pain is down the front of my leg, up the butt and it's trying to give way when I walk. I'm only in my early 40s 😂.

shellyleppard · 20/01/2026 10:51

@FurForksSake hope you feel better soon x @twattingdog good luck with the hospital appointment x

GingerPubes · 20/01/2026 10:51

I have a sharp pain at the base of my spine. That's a new one. Right ankle has a stabbing pain periodically. Also, a pain in my jaw due to an ongoing problem with a dodgy tooth. That's it so far today!

Getting older can be a pain!

NoYourNameChanged · 20/01/2026 10:53

Everywhere, all the time. I’ve got Ehlers Danlos and I’m a bit of a rickety mess this time of year particularly. It’s the cold and the damp weather, it seems to make it worse, somehow. Sympathies and solidarity to all 💐

Laiste · 20/01/2026 10:55

If i get up too quick my right hip hurts a bit. But it walks off by the time i get across the room so i consider myself lucky. If i actually DO my daily yoga, instead of just thinking about it, it goes away after a couple of days .... 🧐

ErwinsCat · 20/01/2026 10:57

I have arthritis in my knee (not bad enough for action yet), and my hip aches a lot (not been checked for this). I'm a keen walker but my hip is stopping me, and I have reduced movement. Today I woke up and the front of my ribs, sternum area, feels like I've been punched and I've no idea why. I did wake up lying on my back, might be related or not. I always have some ache or pain. Fun times getting older!

Hospitalvisitguilt · 20/01/2026 10:58

Shoulder - it’s low/mid level constantly present and it’s knawing at me

Natsku · 20/01/2026 11:07

My hip is hurting a bit (bursitis) but is a lot better than yesterday so that's good. And my wrist hurts because I burnt it at work.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:08

Sympathies all round!

Hips are tricky things, I am very hypermobile and have had three surgeries on my right hip, I’m 43. First one I was in my twenties. I’ll likely need more and on my left hip. And on my shoulders.

We need heat packs all round.

I also totally relate to the tiny things hurting more than they should. I have really sore fingers joints and it seems so silly for something so small to hurt so much.

It’s great that yoga and physio stuff can help with pain. I have hydro once a week and that’s probably the time in my week I’m in the least pain. The heat and support of the water really helps.

Period pain, stomach and lower back 😫

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:10

@dontforgetme men could never. I’m with you with that one as well. I look forward to the menopause!

shoulder pain here too. I know if I do my physio exercises it will feel better. I don't know why I am not doing them!

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:28

Ooh @Nezukokamado that’s a common one I think. I was moaning to my dh about being in pain because I was trying not to take my painkillers… so I started taking them again.

Can you do them for a minute at a time? Or is it just rip the band aid off and do it now time?

Probably because it hurts to do them! You just need to force yourself, promise yourself a reward if you do them.

Why don't you want to take them?

I'll do it later.... 😂

I think you're right, but the payoff is so worth it. I will set myself a time later and just. bloody. do it!

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 11:35

I take naproxen which means taking lansoprazole and the lansoprazole stops you absorbing things and isn’t great long term. But right now is not the time to fight that battle. I also didn’t think they were doing much. But I’m not great without them. Cocodamol and oramorph I try and not take as they make me constipated and I worry.

Perhaps plan a treat for after physio exercises?

Id like a really hot Epsom bath, but the boiler is broken and I have a very floody period so that can’t happen today.

I take esomeprazole daily (Hiatus hernia) and have for years. I would not worry about the lansoprazole at all and especially not if you are in pain!

The broken boiler and the heavy period on top of your pain, it's all too much! Please tell me your DH is looking after you

Sonolanona · 20/01/2026 11:42

Left hip, lower back (lateral spinal stenosis...basically worn out!)
Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia... horrid face pain.
I'm on a lot of gabapentin to keep me functional!

Era · 20/01/2026 11:45

I’ve just had an operation so yes. Every time I move I’m in pain and I’m on strong painkillers. I’m in bed for a couple of weeks but can see out of the window to the pond in the garden which is nice.

turkeyboots · 20/01/2026 11:48

Its cold and wet here and my arthritis doesn't like it. Lower back and right thumb are unhappy.
