Are you in pain? Where?

I am having a high pain day, my hip and legs hurt (recovering from surgery in November), my back hurts, my shoulders, collar bones, arms, elbows and wrists hurt. My thumb hurts, the top of my back hurts. My right ankle is sore.

I don’t think I’ve got a day in my life pain free, I assume on some level that’s normal, we are all just in pain and pushing through it all.

come have a moan about your pain with me!

Woke up with a migraine, right hip is hurting ( replaced 2 yrs ago ) lower back pain, neck pain ( nerve block in 3 weeks time) and my left knee is killing me ( waiting for replacement). Fed up.

chunkyBoo · 20/01/2026 13:08

I have pain every sodding day 😓
I have always been hyper mobile, and I have had psoriasis since I was a teen. Mid-40’s I started getting achy joints and legs, got worse and worse, felt like I was turning to stone, could hardly bed, back, knees and legs in pain, fingers randomly flare, as do elbows, shoulders and thumbs. Eventually I checked symptoms and checked list for psoriatic arthritis and it was telling me to go to GP, was referred to rheumatology, had loads of tests and scans, I have psoriatic arthritis. Currently on buologics which helped a little with the pain, but still felt other pains in collar bone, neck, down arms and legs, went to rheumy nurse twice and they get me back to the consultant who diagnosed fibromyalgia too, but we spoke about my exhaustion and I also have chronic fatigue
I don’t take naproxen / cocodamol unless I’m having a bad flare up, manage with pacing, hot baths, rest and just living with the background pains, the killers are the pains which are like hot knitting needles poking through my body. Constantly for weeks on end .. that pain I use all the pain killers I can and wait for it to go … physio can help a little with some pains, and deep heat is always in my house lol
I’m currently applying for ill health retirement which I’m coming to terms with, had a good career but I just can’t cope
sounds a bit miserable but I’m actually coming to terms with it all now having been off work nearly a year

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 13:13

@JBJ I also have ddd amongst other back issue so completely understand that one, I find tens helps a bit.

But pancreatitis is one of the most painful things you can go through. Definitely have a good wallow, you poor thing.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 13:17

@WanderlustMom are you on maternity leave? You poor thing, it’s rotten to be poorly and so close to the end and achy and sore.

@StarCourtgood luck with the nerve block, it all sounds pretty tricky.

@chunkyBooi hope the biologics help, sounds like there’s a lot to come to terms with. I’ve been on sick leave since May and I’m hopefully doing a long phased return from next month but I am wondering whether I’ll be leaving due to my health. It’s really hard being in chronic way and grieving for the life that you should be living.

Im having migraine symptoms.

My lower left back hurt dont no why my left shoulder hurts again dont no why.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 13:40

@Ahhhblissful migraines suck, I hope it eases soon. Sounds like it might all be connected, can you have a hot bath or (indulgent) book a really good massage to see if it frees things? Might be your neck is pushing everything about. Sympathy!

Dodgy knee and hip on left are playing games with me today, ongoing, just sitting it out until they say replacement appropriate.
crampy left toes too, no explanation from them whatsoever.
right shoulder stiff as a board, although usually is after night shift, it’s the way I sit.
Today’s ‘new fresh hell’ is a painful little toe on the right foot.
Naproxen or a medicinal brandy whilst watching Deal or No Deal?

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 13:54

@rightoguvnor ooh the toes sound annoying. The knee and hip might be causing inflammation that is trapping a nerve causing the toe cramps on the left. Hope you get a replacement soon.

the right toe sounds like a horror show. I think you need two sailors measures during d or d.

My right arthritic knee. Im in constant pain with it and it’s worse when I walk which is getting me down as I can’t walk far these days, I used to be up hill and mountain and be able to walk for miles, now the weight is piling on which makes it worse and because I’m on hrt my appetite has gone through the roof 😩 I do a physically active job too arghh.

cant even take iboprofen as I have kidney disease

I’m too scared to do any meaningful exercise as the doctor said it’s wear and tear, don’t want to wear the joint out any quicker!

dinogreens · 20/01/2026 13:57

Currently I'm not which is unusual. I had Botox administered by my neurologist for chronic migraines at the start of the year and its finally starting to take an effect, I can't quite believe its actually doing something after almost 20 years of daily chronic pain.

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 14:01

@dinogreens huzzah for Botox! How long will it last for?

OP posts:
dinogreens · 20/01/2026 14:03

@FurForksSake I'm not sure another 7 or 8 weeks then I get another lot at the end of March. Fingers crossed it keeps working!

FurForksSake · 20/01/2026 14:03

@blackheartsgirl that sounds really tough. Can you speak to a really, really good private physio for some advice? Getting some low intensity exercises might help and give you a bit of a mood boost too? Sounds like work is tough too, being physically active and in pain isn’t a great combo.

@Erathe pond sounds like a lovely view. Is there any wildlife pottering about? It’s the garden bird count here this weekend and I’m looking forward to counting some birds.

Yes there are lots of birds around and the deer come up in the early morning. It's lovely to be able to look out at the activity going on. I need to ask DH to bring up the binoculars so that I can see more closely.

rightoguvnor · 23/01/2026 10:02

For fellow suffers with knee and hip pain, try a pair of recovery sandals. I am always full of pain on a Tuesday after my night shifts so when indoors wear a pair of very bouncy sandals, sold for use by long distance runners post-race. It really helps to cushion the knees a bit. Make sure they are sandals though, not sliders, otherwise you risk pressuring other joints to keep the damn things on.

FurForksSake · 23/01/2026 10:06

Can you recommend any? I’ve not heard of recovery sandals.

My hip is hurting more today. Made the mistake of trying out a massage chair in the shopping centre and it battered me, plus I'm having to walk a lot today.

LiveToTell · 23/01/2026 11:37

Had a wisdom tooth out this morning - that hurts!

Also woke up with right hip pain 😂

WolfFoxHare · 23/01/2026 11:41

My arms are achy. I think I sleep in the foetal position with my hands curled up against my chest. It's only recently started being a problem though!

thebear1 · 23/01/2026 11:43

Migrane sufferer, cluster headaches too. In pain today. 4th day this week.

AmyDudley · 23/01/2026 13:21

My eyes, they always hurt to some extent, but some days worse than others. Am awaiting surgery, but no idea when that will be.

Also back pain, but I find that easier to control with pain meds and rest.

TwattingDog · 23/01/2026 21:24

Orthopaedic surgeon suggesting it is trochanteric bursitis, but is reserving judgement pending an MRI.

Does anyone know if a hip MRI is done feet first or head first? I'm claustrophobic and need sedating for the latter, but might cope without drugs for the former!

FurForksSake · 23/01/2026 21:26

@TwattingDog feet first, but my head is usually in the scanner. If you are super tall it might be just outside.

They might offer you steroids as that can diagnose where the pain is coming from. Ask they do that separately to the mri. They do the steroids with ultrasound.

Right foot - arthritis, awful.

BUT - until 1 September 2025 I had it in both feet, then I had bone fusion surgery in my left foot, and the improvement is astonishing. I’ll be having the right one done later this year and I am so excited - if it is as successful as the left foot it will be life-changing.

YelramBob · 23/01/2026 21:38

I'm in pain constantly since I started "hormone therapy" after BC treatment. I understand why some women decide to stop taking the tablets and injections and prefer to take the risk of the cancer coming back.
