I said the same upthread somewhere - same with Brooklyn's wife, apparently "it's her pulling the strings" 🙄

It’s the way he smiles at his mum and she seems to be blanking everyone despite him trying to get her attention. Her pose is an individual pose despite the fact it’s a family portrait - even DB isn’t allowed to ‘pair up’ with her.

I understand it is her job but when you bring the family in like that it seems odd not to take a softer approach

I suspect his mum is taking the heat because his feelings towards DB are probably more distant (dad who had affairs and upset his mum and then the mum bears the brunt because the kid can’t understand why she stays etc etc).

and NPB has a terrible reputation but they do seem like a genuine couple and I hope her ‘strong’ character is helping him rather than hindering

This is such an “own goal” for DB.

It’s the classic arrogant, grandiose and dismissive response from a man where no shit has stuck to date and he has never had to be accountable for his shabby behaviour in his personal life.

He has gotten away with his wholesome brand image and consequently huge volume of wholesale luxury brand deals because the first victim here - VB - of all his shagging around, impulsive up and leaving his young family behind to feed his ego for his post Man U football career has inadvertently enabled him to continue shagging around and being self serving by proactively standing by from the very first comment on the first incident “it wasn't a ‘sending off’ offence” to the proactive ski press conf to the ongoing fantasy family facade - she’s kept this up after every woman for 30 years. She even exonerated him during his vanity NF doc. But it must weigh heavily and has taken its toll on her emotionally as she looks brittle and vulnerable. And also this has gone down the line to her eldest son (to date that we can see).

DB had a dysfunctional upbringing. His DF was an obsessive and a philanderer who misogynistically sidelined the females in his family. That’s why BB put his grandmother on the top table.

DB himself went NC with his own DF for years due to his philandering! So surely he can afford BB the same behaviours that he role modelled?

VB tolerated DBs shagging about at great cost to her emotionally and she required the DCs to be involved publicly to shore up the fantasy facade so they could earn more ££££.

But this has taken its toll on her and as is often the case the oldest child is front line absorbing the toxicity or having it discharged on them by the emotionally incontinent parent ie the victim DM.

So VB gets the blame from the DC whilst the real villain slithers DB away as usual.

DB has never been called out or been accountable for anything - he just continues to patronise and dismiss and gets away with it.

I think its a ' thing' now. Makes sense imo to have a formal dress and a dancy dress if you can b afford it or don't go mad. Didnt Holy Ramsay have about 5 dresses?

Yes this seems consistent with how all 3 have been reported to behave in many different settings by many different people - and I do see BB as a passive, peacemaker nice guy which makes him an easy target for control and exploitation by the others. I do think he has jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. I expect his childhood role was spent inappropriately soothing his understandablely distraught mother and N PB has that same disatisfied sulky brooding energy which would be a natural and familiar intensity to connect with - except her unresolvable beef that he will intimately fail to soothe is the sting she feels from the disconnect from her lofty career expectations and low talent - whilst VBs was her need and expectations of a stable, loyal, warm loving marriage and family life that DB destroyed time and time again.

@Llammayou have got it spot on. I’m looking at photos of DB at an economic conference and thought how did this happen? The man could kick a ball around, he’s takes a decent photo but..

I’ve always thought that VB was never that bothered about the philandering or more likely she made a deal with the Devil; she did exceptionally well out of the marriage, was Queen WAG for a while (with Cheryl Cole as Lady In Waiting) and then got to set up her hobby business, made a shit ton of money and look down on the other Spice Girls with whom she’d been compared unfavourably.

In David’s defence, I can imagine being married to an appearance obsessed, long term anorexic isn’t a bundle of laughs.

I think BB comes across well but as with all these matters, none of us knows the full truth.

that Sounds about right - at the start you are charmed by the mil and she was obviously keen to be part of it all. But I imagine over time she saw the impact on BB and the demands on him and started to back off. It’s often the case that the in law starts to pull away first because it is hard for the child to recognise the dysfunction

Just catching up on it all and I note Katherine Ryan has weighed in (probably got something to promote). Asserting the Beckham parents are not abusers was irresponsible and sends out a horrible message. I never thought much of her - like the Beckhams, she isn’t gifted with much talent - but this is appalling.

She puts her dc on SM all the time, she also talks about her teenage DD a lot so they’ll be a large dose of cognitive dissonance going on with her.

I thought it was strange that Katherine Ryan did this too. She is no stranger to putting her children out into the public realm so I think that she is protecting her own interests. Her children might also question why their childhood was monetised when older.

Katherine is defending herself from criticism for allowing the media to invade her children's privacy.

Yeah I listened to Katherine Ryan's podcast and it was tone deaf. Saying "your parents are not abusers" when she has no idea of what may or may not have been going on behind closed doors just silences people trying to speak out. What the hell does she know? She can only guess.

But she puts her own children in front of the cameras too so......🤷🏻‍♀️.

But that’s exactly what she signed up for. In the incisive questioning of Mrs Merton:

”Tell me aspiring, unknown, talentless actress Nicola - what attracted you to the global exposure phenomenon that is the Beckham Brand?”

i mean is this the kind of publicity you want? If she just wanted fame from the connection then that would have given the beckhams the power in the situation and she would have agreed to play their game.

I can’t imagine the beckhams really care about having any sort of personal relationship with her but I’m sure a mutually beneficial professional one would have been good if she followed their playbook - and she obviously wasn’t willing to
