We're sitting under duvets to give the heating a break!

19 but it feels freezing, unlike the 19 that was perfectly comfortable borderline a bit warm over Christmas. I think maybe I feel cold because I can see the snow and ice outside!

CoralOP · 05/01/2026 20:19

22 and if it knocks off I'll turn it up more so it keep pumping out, I despise a cold house!

gallopingissuchfun · 05/01/2026 20:20

Hall is 13 degrees. Bathroom is much colder I suspect. It’s never warm. Kitchen/lounge is probably 18 as have appliances in here and a multi fuel burner which I’ve had on today. I went for a walk this morning. It was warmer outside than in!

Verite1 · 05/01/2026 20:23

16.5. And that’s with the heating on for most of the day. Draughty Victorian house. Godsend in summer. Nightmare in winter. Thank goodness for my electric blanket

WhineAndWine1 · 05/01/2026 20:25

20c because I refuse to freeze in my own home

IAmTheLogLady · 05/01/2026 20:28

We have it set around 16.5 - 17.
We are fine with that, anything warmer and we feel a bit flushed, hot and bothered.
I have thick socks and a warm jumper on though. I don't feel cold at all.

EducatingArti · 05/01/2026 20:41

20°C now. It will have been colder earlier on in the day when the thermostat is set to 18, but I wasn't in so didn't notice!

TeenLifeMum · 05/01/2026 20:46

18 because the connection had gone (stupid expensive WiFi fucking heating). It’s supposed to be 19 but I keep sneaking it up to 21. Dh made a comment about the gas bill at the weekend and I made it clear I’ll pay gas for a warm house above other treats so he needs to back away from the thermostat. His reply was “noted”. I’ve been known to get blue lips because I feel the cold so he does get it, but also gets hot so is grumpy when I set it to 24 😆
my brother’s family was over from Canada and while we spent Christmas in warm clothes, they were all in T-shirts 😳 db commented it was 4 degrees so that’s coming into spring time where he lives and when the T-shirts come out. I think I’d die in Canada all winter.

MrsPringledusts · 05/01/2026 20:46

15 and I'm so cold. I have fleecy joggers, warm socks, long johns, a vest, a sweatshirt and a pullover on. And a blanket over my knees as I'm cold. Might do a hot water bottle to add to it!

orangetriangle · 05/01/2026 20:52

21.1and it's been on all day as soon as it is q9 in here it goes on for several days now it's been on all day I wfh and won't be cold in my own house

Vaguelyclassical · 05/01/2026 20:54

23C
As god is my witness, I will never be cold again in my own house.

cupfinalchaos · 05/01/2026 20:59

22 with underfloor heating.. Still under my electric blanket!

We have a major fuck-off power cut - not in the UK - so no heat, no light, no cooking, no warm water, and it‘s -5 outside, down to -7 or so tonight. Our living room is currently at 12 degrees and the house is still cooling down so prob at 9/10 by tomorrow. Power won‘t be back until Thursday. I‘m not thrilled.

Good grief, @LadyGreySpillsTheTea - how is everyone managing? Do you have any possible alternatives available like paraffin heaters?

TheChosenTwo · 05/01/2026 21:14

Currently 26 in the room I’m in because we lit the fire earlier! I’m under my electric blanket in full thermals and feel okay but not warm. Dh came in and started saying perhaps we could crack a window open, he was evicted quickly for a cooler room 😂 to be fair he was only taking the piss about the window and he goes up to bed to watch telly at about this time anyway so don’t feel too sorry for him. The bedroom is about 19, no heating on in our room, he’ll also open the window and it will probably be around 17 in there by the morning. I sleep under an electric blanket tucked under my duvet, I really feel the cold due to an overactive thyroid that’s just been diagnosed (went for blood tests because the level of cold I feel seemed abnormal).
Rest of the house has underfloor heating set to 21 during the day and to come on if it gets to under 16 at night.

Morepositivemum · 05/01/2026 21:16

Minus a zillion degrees!!! Heating broken so are moving electric heaters around. Haven’t told dh that our next electric bill will probably be the worst we’ve ever had as he’ll switch them off!! So cold!!!

Cantwaitforchristmas2026 · 05/01/2026 21:17

23c currently. But goes down to 19c overnight. Can't bear a cold house

Idontjetwashthefucker · 05/01/2026 21:19

22 here, heating off overnight

swingingbytheseat · 05/01/2026 21:20

I turn it off at night so it’s about 14. I sleep in a freezing bedroom and love it

Fuelledbylatte · 05/01/2026 21:27

16.5 to stay on overnight. Colder upstairs, probably more like 14. Each have a heated throw for bed

lljkk · 05/01/2026 21:30

15.I am wondering if i don't have cavity walls filled after all.
thermostat is set to 19 but not reaching 19 after hours of being on... I turned off 3 of the 7 radiators so I guess without them, the house just doesn't heat up as much as it could.

Upstartled · 05/01/2026 21:32

21.2c. The thermostat is set to 18c overnight so it won't get colder than that.

Namechange1086 · 05/01/2026 21:35

A balmy 12.4 degrees. Good job we have a woodburner

What temperature is your house right now?
mrsed1987 · 05/01/2026 21:35

16.8c, warmer in the living room as we have a heater in there too

Edited

Have you turned you boiler down so it's more economical, when it's very cold we have to turn ours up because if it's on the recommended economical setting of 60c it doesn't warm the house enough so it might be that. Ours still struggles to reach temperature even turned up but it is better

ThirdBanana · 05/01/2026 21:37

About 15. I’m freezing. Everyone else in the house is sitting under a duvet or a heated blanket. I’m about to join them.
