What is everyone’s New Years Eve plans?

Just curious how everyone plans to bring in the new year? For me, we will probably go a nice walk tomorrow afternoon, visit some family (I have an Aunt that has a New Year’s Day bday and I need to give her her gift), and then plan to be back home nice and early and have a nice, fancier dinner with DH and 3 DC’s. Will then get youngest DC to bed but let the two eldest stay up late. DH and I will have some drinks and then we’ll go to bed shortly after midnight. 2025 has been a tough year for us. Hoping 2026 is better. What is everyone else planning?

It’s my birthday tomorrow so I’ll be celebrating thst instead. Tonight me and dh might have some drinks, picky dinner or takeaway. I’ll still go to bed by 10 say as have a 12 month old who wakes early. Plus we have a dog so we don’t go out anymore because she’s terrified of fireworks.

exLtEveDallas · 31/12/2025 06:30

We are day drinking. Going into town for midday, back home for around 6pm. Cheese and crackers then bed before midnight. So much more fun than staying out late.

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 31/12/2025 06:43

I'll be at home, trying to calm a neurotic cat who doesn't understand fireworks.

Very quiet - I've had a cold so staying in eating casserole then pudding with clotted cream and a coffee, boyfriend lives nearby but he's got it too so don't think we'll bother to meet up!

A bath would be nice.

But definitely something good to watch and a hot water bottle.

mbonfield · 31/12/2025 06:51

As in previous would not go out even if the drink was free. The thought of going to an event or pub sends shivers done my spine.
Go out this weekend and have a good time without the crowds!

PersephoneParlormaid · 31/12/2025 06:53

I’ll be going to bed at 10pm like normal, I’ve never seen the attraction of NY. I always used to offer to work it when I was in the his;ital.

stolenpromises · 31/12/2025 06:55

Finish work at 12 today and either then go shopping for a couple of hours or straight home. Tea tonight is homemade soup, crusty bread and party food. DH and DS will likely stay up. I will, if I can keep my eyes open, stay up but I really can’t be bothered with NYE. I will be up, as usual tomorrow morning and I will head out for a walk before steak pie at my sisters in the afternoon.

CharlotteLightandDark · 31/12/2025 06:59

My fucking cat woke me at 3am and I’ve not been able to get back to sleep so it’s looking unlikely I’ll be able to stay up and party til midnight now 😭

Be jools holland at home if I make it that far!

GeorgeMichaelsCat · 31/12/2025 07:01

Nothing. It's just another day to me.

Hope anyone with plans enjoys themselves.

bleakmidwintering · 31/12/2025 07:02

I went to a party last night instead. No problem getting a taxi home whatsoever. Have awoken with a hangover so it’s not going to be a late night tonight for me. DH didn’t come out last night as he is ill so that’s another reason. DD is back from uni and will be having a good night out.

RubiesandRose · 31/12/2025 07:02

Working at home today, adult DD at her boyfriend’s and not back until NY day, DH has gone to work too and DS lives with his girlfriend, I’m picking him up in my lunch hour to give him a quick driving lesson.

When DH is home we will pop into town around 6pm for a few drinks then dinner at our lovely local Thai restaurant and home by 9pm to curl up with a glass of wine, the dog and watch the festivities on TV.

It’s become our go to NYE routine and it suits us down to the ground. All decs down on New Years Day and the January diet starts too!

Londonnight · 31/12/2025 07:06

Nothing. It's just another day for me. I'll be in bed before 10 as usual, though will use ear plugs tonight to block out the fireworks.

EvangelinaMae · 31/12/2025 07:10

We're ill, but we were planning on staying in anyway. Going to cook a curry with all the sides, well, that was the plan, we'll have to see if we can actually eat it later 🙄 I'm not hungry at all at the moment.

Cheepcheepcheep · 31/12/2025 07:14

We’re heading off for a couple of days away this morning, so I will be sitting in a hot tub with DH, drinking fizz and celebrating the fact that 2025 is over. It’s been a dreadful year and I’m delighted to see the back of it. Not sure if we’ll stay up til midnight as 3yo and 5yo DCs are usually up around 6am!

Zippedydodah · 31/12/2025 07:15

I’ll be fast asleep long before midnight, I suspect my neighbours will be whooping it up but being deaf I won’t hear a thing!

IpsyUpsyDaisyDoos · 31/12/2025 07:19

DH is working today, so just me and DD til later. We are having a quiet day with a walk and some prep for NYD dinner (friends over). Bit of housework, bit of Lego. Takeaway and film tonight and probably asleep before midnight.

Used to try and stay up to see it in, but we're too tired these days and prefer the sleep!

FlatWhiteExtraHot · 31/12/2025 07:22

Taking DS to IKEA to buy stuff for his new flat then lunch out somewhere.

DS is going out with friends and DD & DSIL are going out with his parents so we’re off the hook thank god.

I hate NYE as for some reason I find it horribly depressing. We’ve had a shitty year one way and another and the clock ticking over isn’t going to change anything.

RampantIvy · 31/12/2025 07:25

Taking DD back to her university city then back home to share a nice bottle of wine and a nice meal (haven't decided what to cook yet) with DH and an evening watching the TV.

I have a deeply unsociable DH who is recovering from a major heart operation and NYE is not celebrated in our house.

IGJ10 · 31/12/2025 07:27

Working, as I do most years

dunroamingfornow · 31/12/2025 07:27

YeOldeGreyhound · 31/12/2025 00:26

Change bedding, have a bath, then sharing chicken wings and Giant Wosits in front of the TV with my dog.

This sounds perfect!

weebarra · 31/12/2025 07:29

We’re in Scotland so I think it’s a bigger thing here than down south. We’re having friends over so will see in the new year with them. I’ve just popped the pork in the slow cooker as it takes ten hours. The rest of the day will probably be spent cleaning the house!

Mikart · 31/12/2025 07:35

We got back from a week away yesterday so need to do a food shop. We will go for a walk and might eat out locally about 4.
Netflix and bed by 10.

LadyFlumpalot · 31/12/2025 07:40

I was going to have a steak dinner and enjoy a board game with my family but as we have been stuck in the Eurotunnel chaos and have been on the road for (checks watch) 26 hours… I think I’ll just be sleeping, when I finally get home! We’ll do New Years tomorrow on the 1st instead 😆

HollyBollyBooBoo · 31/12/2025 07:42

Was supposed to be going to friends but they pulled out a couple of days ago as had a better offer. End of that friendship.

Taking DD and her mates out bowling and for food now.

Will likely be asleep way before midnight.

RaininSummer · 31/12/2025 07:43

At work today. Woke up to no hot water which is extremely annoying as wanted to wash my hair. Later buffet for tea, stay up til midnight with a drink watching mainly crap TV but planning to watch the new Ricky Gervais if it's there.
