I don’t know what I’m doing!

DH is going to collect DS’ main present. DS knows so may or may not be going with. That means I’ll have DD8 and DD6mo. I know I’ll be doing some housework but apart from that no idea. What are you doing?☺️

Some favourite cheeses, trifle sponges, spreadable butter, horseradish sauce (we’re having beef), small tomatoes… nothing disastrous, just annoying as it’s been impossible to park for the last week in our local town.

Hi I always make my trifle with a fatless sponge sandwiched with raspberry jam. If you have a hand held electric whisk they are really easy to make I freeze mine until the day I need it. Good luck!

TheChosenTwo · 23/12/2025 08:58

Well I’m currently lying on a hot bed under a towel at the spa - dh and I are both here, putting off the inevitable Madness that lies ahead of us today 😂 I’m in a room on my own so I’m okay MNing on my phone, I’m not disturbing anyone.
we said we’ll leave in half an hour… half an hour ago and neither of us are moving!
when we get back i need to go and get some last presents, he’s going home to make pastry and prep stuff for tomorrow then he’s going out later on this afternoon. This afternoon I’ve got baking to do and presents to wrap plus my Pilates class tonight.

GiddyDog · 23/12/2025 09:09

Working till 6pm and my clinic is wall to wall. However I'm off tomorrow and DH is doing all the last minute running around today so I'll have a nice peaceful Christmas Eve.

ChronicallyMum · 23/12/2025 09:22

DD4 is unwell so I’m keeping an eye on her, need to repaint the kitchen and declutter/deep clean the bedrooms.
Could do with nipping to IKEA.
Apart from that, a lazy day.

mum2jakie · 23/12/2025 09:27

Got a couple of presents to pick up, visit planned to family this afternoon and need to pick up some veg and salad items. Big shop already done!

blankcanvas3 · 23/12/2025 09:30

DH is taking DC out so I can wrap all remaining gifts, so I’m going to watch Love Actually in peace whilst I do that! Then we’re heading over to our friends house for our annual Christmas Eve Eve meal, there’s 3 couples and we take it in turns to host. So glad it’s not my turn!

DancingLions · 23/12/2025 09:45

WFH, but I've done everything I really needed to get done before the break so just manning the fort really. Nipping to Waitrose soon with DD to pick our Christmas cheeses! (bit of a tradition of ours). Plus a couple of last minute items.

I'm basically all done, presents all wrapped, house tidy. So I'll keep half an eye on the laptop and carry on with an embroidery I'm doing.

Are you Supermum?

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 23/12/2025 09:55

Working. I have a 28 week midwife appointment later today. Nervous but also excited. This is my first baby after years of loss, so it's quite a big deal for me. I'm working until 1300 tomorrow afternoon and depending on traffic, I might go out and get extra bits, last minute bargains etc. Otherwise regular grocery shop on Saturday. DH's parents will be coming over for Christmas, as per usual. I hate it and prefer to be at theirs so they can be annoying in their own house instead of ours, but we want to be nice. Hopefully this time next year we'll be celebrating Christmas with baby 😊

Bbq1 · 23/12/2025 09:57

Just got out of the shower. Unpacking one delivery, awaiting another. Wrapping and then dh and I popping out for last minute bits and a bite to eat. Getting meat out of my mums freezer. Ds working this afternoon before finishing for couple of weeks. The three of us are off work for 2/3 weeks.

Are you Supermum?

Definitely not!
Im the mum who has a 20 page long to-do list that I procrastinate on for months, mentally beat myself up for being lazy and then try to get it all done in an unachievable time frame eventually just leaving myself exhausted and stressed and and further beating myself up because I didn’t achieve the impossible.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 23/12/2025 10:17

Received Tesco delivery this morning, only one item missing so went to Sainsbury’s to get it, it was really quiet, no crowds or queues. Then went to sorting office to track down a missing parcel, it wasn’t there but has just been delivered luckily. Need to wrap DD’s presents when she goes out later, am planning to go for a 5k run in a bit to balance out all the sitting around I’ll be doing over the next couple of days! Will also clean the house and hang up some washing at some point. Making a prawn stir fry with lots of veg for dinner to eat while watching the Arsenal game. Keeping it light and healthy ahead of the overindulgence which will start tomorrow!

Brightbluesomething · 23/12/2025 10:32

DS is at his dads getting his car fixed and DD has told me she’s definitely getting up now….. let’s see.
Going out for lunch with the family at a lovely restaurant then for a wander around the Christmas market. Trying to persuade DD that she can’t wear leggings and a hoodie out for lunch and could do with being slightly smarter, but may relent on this due to time constraints.
DD has her hobby tonight and DS is working so I have a couple of hours to wrap the presents that arrived yesterday in peace.

CoralOP · 23/12/2025 10:43

Working until around 2, already been to boots, asda and aldi, all surprisingly quiet around 9-10am. Some wrapping to do, trying to remember to do some fun xmassy things with my son instead of just running around!

MonsterBookOfChristmas · 23/12/2025 10:47

Its husbands birthday and we have planned nothing as heavily pg and kept getting contractions. Now nothing has come of them and I have come up blank with ideas. Dh keeps saying he doesnt want to do anything. Im running low on the budget as ds bed broke yesterday so had to replace that.
I think we will end up going for a walk.

Redhairandhottubs · 23/12/2025 10:56

I’m working from home but it’s very quiet so I’ve wrapped up a few last presents and spending too much time scrolling on social media. I’ve got a friend popping in for coffee later and my food shop is coming between 2-3 (no subs - well done Sainsbury’s!)

I had a small op on Friday so I can’t do any exercise, otherwise I’d be going to the gym.

Natsku · 23/12/2025 11:32

I'm currently making red onion chutney to go with all my cheese, already made rice porridge for tomorrow's breakfast, and at some point I'm going to have to go out and take presents round to my brother, and brave the shop for our traditional night before Christmas pizzas (plus several other things I forgot to get the countless times I've been to the shops in the last week, including a present for the neighbour's grandson as I bet they've got something for DS, who is playing at their house right now and probably being fed as well)

Once I'm back from the shop I'm going to stick the sauna on and we'll go to sauna, then eat pizza and watch a film, then once DS is in bed I'll put the presents under the tree (we celebrate on Christmas Eve, not Christmas Day) and watch Diehard with DD.

Icequeen01 · 23/12/2025 11:46

DH and I are currently on the train to London. Going to see the shops/lights, have some dinner and then he’s booked the theatre. I was looking forward to a nice musical or comedy but no, he’s booked Othello! I don’t mind a bit of Shakespeare but would have preferred something a bit lighter at Xmas 😂

Christmaseree · 23/12/2025 11:47

Spa day and then a Christmas light trail thing.

Hoolahoophop · 23/12/2025 11:50

Working, food shop, wrapping presents, cleaning house.

HashtagShitShop · 23/12/2025 11:50

We have been poorly for december so missed out on my usual organising/shopping in between etc so not quite as organised as usual and left everything to this last week just gone.

Had final shop delivered with the last minute bits tesco didn't have yesterday in their delivery (thank you Iceland and your still surprisingly large amount of delivery slots!) and now going to go into the kitchen once I've finished my early lunch and tea and dig it out and order the freezer as feeling the best I have since we came down with the flu early Dec ❤️

Merry Christmas all x

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 23/12/2025 11:54

Husband and I might go to the gym, we have picked up our hand painted mugs from the pottery shop and about to have some nice lunch then see what the day brings! We are going to a Christmas carol service at the cathedral tonight.

Dr13Hadley · 23/12/2025 11:55

At work since 5.30am until 4.30pm then going home via my mums to pick up the cranberry sauce she’s made for me. Then got to wrap the bloody presents. Been putting it off! At least I’m finished with with after this afternoon until next Monday.

SheWillBeTheDeathOfMe · 23/12/2025 12:00

Working, but just tidying up loose ends really, enough to do that it won’t drag but I can certainly log off on time.

I went to an exercise class at 7am and might do another one at 6pm as no idea when I will make it to the gym again. But DS and I might have a little homeworkers Christmas party instead. I’ve got a class booked for 9am tomorrow but to do list might be too long.

I also called into Lidl for a few bits that we want from there to eat and drink on my way home this morning.

Tonight I need to finalise THE FOOD SHOP LIST 😱 and do some more wrapping. I’m still trying to nail down exactly who is coming in the bit in the middle and for how long 😬.
