I don’t know what I’m doing!

DH is going to collect DS’ main present. DS knows so may or may not be going with. That means I’ll have DD8 and DD6mo. I know I’ll be doing some housework but apart from that no idea. What are you doing?☺️

Im on maternity leave so looking after my baby. Tidying for Christmas

Teenagerantruns · 23/12/2025 08:14

Wrapping, bit of cleaning, not much, will probably watch a Christmas film and crack open the baileys later....oh and must take meat out of the freezer.

Coffeeishot · 23/12/2025 08:17

Husband is desperate to go to.the supermarket for "last minute bits" but we want booze so can't go till 10 (Scotland) so he is googiling the best deals for "the bits" we need, I need to wrap gifts and tidy round and wash my floors, thats it for today unless over excited husband has other plans!

Drive to nearest beach for a blast of fresh air, back via Waitrose, watch the darts.

Starlight40 · 23/12/2025 08:17

Our son is back from uni today. I’m taking my daughter for a hair cut which is a 2 minute walk away and then we are going to my mother in laws. Then home and I’m hoping our son will make some gingerbread with our daughter as mine were a disaster a few weeks ago.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 23/12/2025 08:18

Heading out for coffee with DS this morning and he’s helping me do the M&S collection afterwards.

Nail appointment with DD’s this afternoon then home to do a bit of housework and watch a film.

MiddleAgedDread · 23/12/2025 08:18

on my way to work (hoping for a quiet day to get lots done)

DisplayPurposesOnly · 23/12/2025 07:52

Working (from home). Gym class at lunchtime.

Debating whether to buy last minute replacement artificial Christmas tree later, as the real one I bought was too big so am currently tree-less which is a bit sad.

So what did you do with your real tree ?

wheredidtheteago · 23/12/2025 08:19

I’ve been awake since 3am as I was having incredibly vivid dreams that kept waking me up and since then I’ve watched Mulholland Drive while wrapping presents and eating chocolate and now I’m getting ready to get some last minute bits before going out tonight with some friends :-) hopefully I’ll have an hours nap too.

Just read the receipt email for this morning’s big food shop delivery: by the look of some of the substitutions I’ll be driving around trying to pick up missing items. Wish me luck out there.

Oh god! What was missing?

Only2daystogo · 23/12/2025 08:21

Taking youngest child to library and then for her asthma check. PIL are coming round this afternoon.

I need to fit in putting the sofa covers back on the playroom sofa and will tidy and clean bedrooms. Still waiting for a last minute gift request to arrive so I can wrap it. The big food shop order is coming tonight.

LadyRoughDiamond · 23/12/2025 08:26

HansHolbein · 23/12/2025 08:21

Oh god! What was missing?

Some favourite cheeses, trifle sponges, spreadable butter, horseradish sauce (we’re having beef), small tomatoes… nothing disastrous, just annoying as it’s been impossible to park for the last week in our local town.

ThroughTheRedDoor · 23/12/2025 08:27

I've finished work till 5th, having had a mad November and December (travelling for work, travelling to collect my adult son from abroad who's had a tough couple of months and needed a hand with a couple of things in his new home country). So I feel behind!

Housework, last bit of wrapping, trying to get the cases emptied and associated washing done. Dh finishes at 5 tonight.

All has to be done by 6pm as we have a family birthday this evening so people are arriving for drinks but happily we're off to our favourite local restaurant for the birthday dinner.

The mad day today should mean that we can have a super chill Christmas Eve! And into the festivities with not a lot to do except relax and hang out together. Bliss. Just gotta get through today!

TheOnlyMrsW · 23/12/2025 08:36

Working, lunch with a friend, then DD has people over tonight to game with DH, DSS and DSS's partner, I'll be making myself scarce 🤣.
Last-minute wrapping to be done too

FlyingUnicornWings · 23/12/2025 08:45

HansHolbein · 23/12/2025 07:58

What is the main present? I want to know 😂

Mostly baking related stuff for me today. Set the dining table (we’re hosting tomorrow). Take some stuff out of the freezer.

Food shop and presents all done, so it’s just a case of double checking everything.

Potentially might need to go out and get some butter, but we’ll see.

I always have this dreadful feeling that I’ve forgotten something…

Foil? It’s always the foil for me!

Having a lovely relaxed introverted Christmas. Today I am reading, baking and nursing one of my children who have a stinker of a cold.

mynameiscalypso · 23/12/2025 08:46

It’s DH’s birthday today so I’m letting him have a lie in. DS(6) and I are still lazing around in our pyjamas; I’m waiting for the Ocado shop which is about to arrive and DS is building some Lego. Once DH is awake, we’ll do breakfast and presents and then will head out for a fancy lunch. Need to pop to the supermarket on the way back to get some salad which was missing from the Ocado order. I think we’ll then have a lazy afternoon, maybe watch a film. I have a jigsaw on the go that I need to make some progress with as we need the table back for Christmas Day!

purplespink · 23/12/2025 08:46

@wheredidtheteagoone of my favourite films, now I want to watch it!!

OP posts:
FestiveFancy · 23/12/2025 08:49

I'm trying to write my dissertation, then going to give blood. I need to pop by my new flat to check the mail (haven't moved in yet) and return some parcels, then more dissertation. I need to wrap the last few presents whilst the kids are with their dad and then meant to be meeting friends in London this evening. I don't actually know how I'm going to fit it all in to be honest!

Barrenfieldoffucks · 23/12/2025 08:50

Volunteering at food pantry for usual Tuesday morning, youngest child (8) will come too.

Hang out at home this afternoon, then teen kids will go to training chauffeured by DH and I will take youngest skateboarding.

CharlotteStreetW1 · 23/12/2025 08:52

Work until 2pm then off until 5th Jan. We're going abroad for Christmas, flying tomorrow morning, so will be packing for that this afternoon snd sorting out stuff for the cat feeder.

ViciousCurrentBun · 23/12/2025 08:54

Cooking a full Christmas dinner for DH sister visiting from overseas, she flies in and out over 2 days, he will be my kitchen porter and do all the menial tasks. I go all Gordon Ramsey at this point as I find his sister stressful. In a nutshell she is a massive bully. I stood up to her a few years ago, her own Mother is scared of her, she doesn’t like me. The feeling is mutual. I then cook another on Christmas Day. MIL doesn’t like Christmas pudding and neither does DS GF so I made crème brûlée last night. I am also putting many gifts in the gift bags I have, I don’t wrap anymore. I’m also dropping round some homemade flapjacks that I made for my mate who is very poorly, this is long term illness with no cure, not fatal but means she has a very difficult life and is severely disabled.

ResusciAnnie · 23/12/2025 08:56

Still in bed which is a Christmas miracle.

Gojng to hopefully go for a run this morning as DH has finished work so can look after the kids.

Parents coming up after lunch until after Xmas.

Going to some local illuminations this afternoon.

abracadabra1980 · 23/12/2025 08:57

Relaxing with my two dogs mostly. Finished work yesterday for the season. Newly downsized and semi retired so taking most of January off, and thoroughly enjoying being 'older'!

Dee03 · 23/12/2025 08:58

Working in the nhs….and tomorrow but then I’m off until the 5th Jan which I’m really looking forward to…
