Too beautiful

Does everyone else fine their children just too beautiful for words? I’m not so idiotic that I think my kids are actually genuinely extraordinarily beautiful… so I assume other people feel this way… do you? Mine are 2 and 4 if that matters.

I think everyone feels like this about their kids.

For me it’s different though, because my DD is objectively the most beautiful child in the world…

😂

The weird thing is, when I look at old photos of them I find them less beautiful. It’s like their present state is just overwhelmingly beautiful to me (which I guess is evolutionarily advantageous so not odd really)

Yes, I look back on photos and think “oooh, that was an awkward stage”

But I can say confidently my teenager is the most beautiful girl in the world.

No I don't think this at all.
I love all 3 dearly and think they are amazing people. But none of them are beautiful.
My DS1 is super skinny but does have a good looking face and seems to attract girls. He is annoying and a typical teen. But occasionally says lovely things that makes my heart swell.
DS2 is a chunky rugby playing lad not at all beautiful to look at but has the most amazing beautiful empathetic personality.
DD is not conventionally pretty at all, but is sassy, independent and kind and caring. Again great personality but not beautiful to look at.

Interesting! It doesn’t sound like they are young… did you feel the same when they were young?

It must be true ❤️😂

No. I have eyes and I can be objective. My children are attractive, but not stop and stare stunning. Equally my eldest was an ugly baby. I could see it 😂

Howdiditenduplikeit · 19/12/2025 17:32

Yes my son is the most beautiful child I’ve ever seen!
dh and I were classed as good looking when we were younger, the oldies would always comment on what beautiful children we’d make 😳 was very cringe at the time 🤣

Ok, I appreciate we are not all the same but I have eyes too! I’m also really not a crazy doting parent, which is why included the detail about not feeling like my kids are so beautiful on retrospect. Honestly , it’s insane - I look at a pic of my now 4yo as a baby and I think ‘typical baby’ at the time I was like ‘most beautiful baby ever!’ And now I think ‘most beautiful 4yo ever!!!’

Yikes / that it cringe… but also, imagine if they’d have been ugly?! (Or maybe they are and you just don’t realise 😂)

Yes, I assume this is true…. I wonder does it last forever? (Which is why I included their ages in my post)

It does.

My friend 100% thinks her teenage kids are model material. She constantly references how she knows just how stunning they are.

They’re perfectly normal looking kids but both squarely in that awkward teenage/gangly limbs/acne/braces phase. Objectively, they’re probably less than average in the looks department.

It’s nice she thinks that, though.

My dad thinks I’m the most beautiful person in the world. I’m absolutely not, but it’s lovely he thinks it 😍

DoubleHardBastard · 19/12/2025 17:59

I doubt any of your kids are as beautiful or as breathtaking as you think 😂.

But I guess that's being a parent, believing your hideous child to the most beautiful little angel in all the world.

Blondiney · 19/12/2025 18:16

I think that about my dogs.

Did you actually read my post? Literally the whole premise is that my kids are presumably only beautiful in my eyes.
