I’ve just had a nosey on their website. I need to move 🏠

It's close to me, about 20 miles away. I've never been.

DuncinToffee · 20/12/2025 19:57

Apparently lil' tommeh has been deported from Dubai 😅

There was a video of him being confronted by I tink a boxer who asked him why he was in Dubai if he hated muslims so much.

We will have soup, turkey dinner with roast, yorkshires, a mound of veg including bacon sprouts, honey glazed carrots, red cabbage and cauliflower cheese. We also have a vegan turkey dish, and pigs in blankets.
Christmas pudding and chocolate brownies in a chocolate bauble.
Dd is prepping a lot of it. We will have Christmas cake, yule log and chocolate cheesecake for tea/ boxing day.

I just have to work out how I'm going to cook it all at the same time!

We've been to Booths on holiday, we have a Waitrose but I hardly ever go there. I don't really get the buzz

Waitrose has the most excellent snacks.

You must. It’s probably a good thing our nearest one is five counties away or we’d be bankrupt.

countrygirl99 · 20/12/2025 20:58

We have beef but DIL is vegan so there's mushroom wellington as well. We'll have 3 choices of dessert. I've made mango and coconut ice-cream (vegan) and I'm doing a vegan raspberry cheesecake that I tested last week and DS1's partner is making another dessert. Don't know what she's bringing but she's an amazing cook.

Piggywaspushed · 20/12/2025 21:20

I feel like I am letting the side down with just turkey and then microwaved Christmas pud (bleugh) or sponge pudding for the dissenters with tinned custard. This is haute cuisine chez moi.

Piggywaspushed · 20/12/2025 21:21

Obviously the turkey does Come With Things.

LlttledrummergirI · 20/12/2025 22:55

I'm the vegetarian in this house, dh is lactose intolerant and dsil is celiac. Everything has to cater to 2 of these preferences so we aren't doubling up.

One day, when the dc are all doing their own Christmases, with their families, I fully intend to cater with ping meals for dh and I.

Tommy Robinson gets embarrassed in Dubai. It's so funny, he gets banged to rights.

The video of that encounter is brilliant.

I miss all the lovely dried fruit based Christmas sweet stuff. I can eat very little of it without triggering a migraine or palpitations.

And I'm past bothering with home made much of anything. It's just the 4 of us and the menfolk don't care whether I've spent the afternoon giving myself back ache in the kitchen or grabbed a box of something in Sainsburys.

I've found some gluten free sticky toffee tarts in Tesco that hit the festive spot for me. They're so sweet that they hurt my teeth, though!

PickAChew · 20/12/2025 23:56

From the comments - Ewok Powell 😂

PandoraSocks · 21/12/2025 08:30

That video is hilarious. Ewok Powell is genius. Little T crumbles into an incoherent mess when he's confronted by someone who could punch his lights out. Typical bully.

If you want your day to get better checkout the clips of Andrew Tate being taught a lesson in the boxing ring at that event.

I got up at what passes for early here in winter to go and play carols with the band in Big Tesco from 10-1 but another (idiot) flautist turned up without saying so we had 3 of us this morning (bit much) but none down for the afternoon. I offered to come away and go back but have been to Aldi for some booze and also bought the pork joint for Christmas Eve (hot pork sandwiches). Just having a bacon and chilli jam bagel and coffee before going back.
Blessed Yule and Happy Solstice all.

countrygirl99 · 21/12/2025 11:15

Having horses kept on clay land I find winter a real chore.I break it into 3 sections to make it feel shorter. First is horses going into winter routine some time in October to the solstice. End of February is the next, then the worst of the weather should be past. I shall have a drink if something festive tonight to celebrate the solstice.

That must be a trial!
I hate winter. It’s not the dark, I can handle that ok. It’s the cold. It makes me edge towards actual depression (been there, got the t shirt, recognise the signs) and it’s incredibly hard to fight. It’s actually hardest round the solstice with everyone going on about longer days being so fab when for me January and February are by far the worst months. I try not to be a grump about it though, and Yule is nice.

countrygirl99 · 21/12/2025 11:36

It's the mud that gets me. Dark doesn't bother me and I can dress for the cold but at times I envy people who don't need wellies and whose jeans aren't splattered by the end of the day. How I laugh at those posts that say you shouldn't wash jeans often. They haven't smelt mine after I've mucked out a horse who pees for England. Love the summer when I only have to poo pick the field.

cardibach · 21/12/2025 11:44

‘I can dress for the cold’ doesn’t work for me either. If i put more layers on I’m just cold and uncomfortable. Doesn’t seem to help other than my oodie, but you can’t wear that outside the house. My hands feel colder in gloves than without unless I put hand warmer thingies in them. Can’t bear to leave the house because it takes 10 mins to put on enough clothes to make it even bearable. Don’t want to even do fun things because of it…it’s tough. I make myself power through as much as possible but it’s constant effort and battle with myself.
Glad I don’t have mud to deal with as well (except a bit when I walk rescue dogs).

BIossomtoes · 21/12/2025 11:48

I’m with you @cardibach. I detest the winter and February should be banned. We’re considering going somewhere warm for the entire month in 2027 to avoid it. Do you take vit D3? I find it really helps with my winter mental health.

I shall open my new bottle of gin tonight to celebrate the solstice.
