I had a comment deleted and was given a naughty letter. Apparently calling the MAGA crowd paedophile apologists is not allowed.
To be fair, I stated it as a fact rather than my opinion.

That thread was horrific, and the family of Renee must be devastated that not only have they lost her to a pointless murder, but that she is being denigrated by the people who should have been protecting her.

I understand - although I haven’t and won’t look - that Gr*k has already shown her in a bikini. And one of the poor girls killed in the bar fire in Switzerland.

I'd suspect that was "AI" driven by keywords.

But someone has to report a post for a naughty "mumsnet calling" letter to be e-mailed, rather than just a post to be auto-deleted by AI. There are plenty of pro-Trump fingers willing to hit that report button!

Eta: a few masks really slipped on that thread. I was told off by a certain poster for saying that. My conclusion is that they were perhaps worried about their own slippage.

The irony is MNHQ have said that some posters aren't too bright ... 😆

I read a fantastic book (Another Day In The Death of America) about people (these were all Black people) shot dead by law enforcement. The huge majority are shot dead in their own homes and the second most common means of young adults and women being shot is in their own cars.

DuncinToffee · 08/01/2026 16:01

I read about the 14 year old bar fire victim Sad

The government is expected to say it will make changes to how pubs' business rates are calculated, resulting in smaller rises to bills.

It still won't save any pubs. It's not just economics, it's how people live.

You may as well try and subsidise telegrams.

I sure the sick bastards who prompted those AI photo edits will claim they did it to prove a point.

I'm sure they did it to allow the wannabe fascists like Farage and his bestie Musk to ponce about talking about free speech and pretending they are being oppressed. With a non ironic invitation to come and see the violence in the system.

Unfortunately I agree with you. With pubs even a differential duty regime from supermarket sales won't save them. I value so-called third spaces, but you need to be busy other than two weekday evenings, Saturday and Sunday to make ends meet.

Though at least with the High Street you could make it easier to convert some buildings into residential property and act so that dubious alleged money laundering fronts are got rid of.

DuncinToffee · 08/01/2026 18:02

Farage is making money from x, he is not going to criticise his income source

Pubs are more attached to the country than the city. And rural life is expensive.

£13,000 a year. Supposedly. Beer money and taxis.

Don’t know who sets them. But Musk could certainly insist that they are adjusted so that it doesn’t respond to requests to put women and children in bikinis, enlarge their bust or buttocks or put them in to sexual positions.

But you know, libertarians like the freedom to sexualise whoever they like.

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/01/2026 19:28

The Grok image thing has been going on for a few days now. There doesn’t seem to be any attempt to stop it or take it down. And they do have a history of taking grok down when it malfunctions. At this point that’s a choice because they cannot be unaware of the issue.

It is horrible here too, cold wet and windy. Put the Christmas tree out for recycling and am wondering whether it will be half way down the hill by tomorrow.

RafaistheKingofClay · 08/01/2026 19:56

Wet and windy here. Or was. Now in the eye I think because it has gone very quiet.

itsgettingweird · 08/01/2026 20:59

Very wet and windy here earlier.
lots of flooding on roads.

I had to drive into the city then home and then collect DS from a rural area (golf club) as he’s been at his best mates mums funeral and wake.

Roads were horrendous so I took the longer route back with ds because it felt safer. I didn’t intend to take the complete country route there but I didn’t know where it was as my dad dropped him at the crematorium and he went with his mate to the wake). I just followed the car map!
