Someone has posted a hilarious pro-Reform rant on the Reform media request thread.

It is really beginning to rile the Reform supporters on MN that people are so vehement in their views on that thread and are daring to ask questions.

Reform lose sight of hearts and minds when it comes to battles and wars as in Laila Cunningham.

Cunningham, Reform pick for London mayor, had to resign her role as prosecutor in the CPS because of her politicised statements; strictly forbibben in this post.

How can she be trusted to take on the role of Mayor of London with a background like that?

RafaistheKingofClay · 07/01/2026 19:23

Oh I’ve missed the rant. That is the first time I’ve gone back to that thread though. It is heartening.

Wasn’t Ant Middleton trying to get himself picked as reform’s candidate for mayor?

I guess his debts and the fact he lives in Dubai was less attractive than he expected! Tice gets away with it because he’s bankrolled Farage.

Put it this way, it wasn't a calm and rational explanation of why they support Reform.

Jake Berry on newsnight showing his lack of understanding of politics, policing, humanity or decency.

He's swallowed the Trump line hook, line and sinker. Arrogant fucker.

Strong agree. He demonstrates his extreme lack of diplomacy and is lacking in any intelligence both intellectual and international.

On the boat incident

https://bsky.app/profile/warrenoates1.bsky.social/post/3mbuhtthxtc2o

People are still acting like Russian apologists over the boat incident today...so I think it's important people read the UK Defence Secretary's statement he was able to make this evening in the House of Commons.

Key points:

It was a stateless vessel

(We already knew it was flying a false flag & tried to change it while being persuded).

It is involved in nefarious activities around the world with links to Iran and Russia.

A stateless vessel may be lawfully interdicted, as happened here.

We also get more details it's specific involvement with Iran and Russia, including that we now know it has also shipped weapons which Russia used in Ukraine.

It includes m ore details on other recent efforts to capture it.

We can be left in no doubt that this action was both legal, and necessary for UK, Ukraine and global security.

The UK is being the adult in the room.

The seizure could have been a lot harder and riskier if the UK had done nothing. Navies far from friends always struggle.

(Incidentally, I am amused at how Putin has single handedly retired the Russian navy. Although I guess it saves those hard to come by dollars).

That thread on the shooting of Renee Good is terrifying. God help the decent people of America. And God help the UK if our own pound shop Trump gets into power.

I am off to look for some cute animal videos or something.

It was bound to attract the magaform crowd who happily see these thugs on UK streets.

Yes indeed it is - I can’t resist responding once I started - also one of my problems with crisps!

Well they think they would.
My only pleasure from this coming to the U.K. would be those fans of it who would act surprised when they too suffer.
Don't like that I think this way though and obviously will find ways to oppose it - however pointless that seems at times.

Efacsen · 08/01/2026 10:24

Yep that thread is 'something else' even by MN standards

DuncinToffee · 08/01/2026 10:36

Which potential coalitions have the most support from Britons?

LD + Lab, Davey PM: 36% support
Lab + Grn, Starmer PM: 33%
Lab + LD, Starmer PM: 31%
Grn + Lab, Polanski PM: 30%
Ref + Con, Farage PM: 29%
LD + Con, Davey PM: 26%
Con + Ref, Badenoch PM: 25%

I am starting to wonder whether MN is a good place to be. MNHQ is still failing to get a grip on certain things (being vague as lurkers will report if I am more specific).

There is a poster on the thread about the murder of Renee Good who keeps calling her a criminal. MNHQ seem OK with that.

The "Mumsnetters Turning to Reform" story is based on around 200 Mumsnetters saying they would vote Reform (MNHQ has confirmed the sample size was 1,011). Fair enough that the difference in comparison to previous polls is noteworthy, but the amount of attention to it seems a bit off.

I don't know. It all leaves a rather nasty taste.

The lastest post on there from becky and picked up BIWI

It isn’t weighted, so it’s not intended to be a representative sample of the UK

OP posts:

It's not even a 'representative sample of MN' either [self-selected] so doesn't do what it claims to do

Karistyleaftea · 08/01/2026 13:26

@PandoraSocks I understand your view completely.
MN offers a myriad of topics which was part of the appeal but honestly, I am so disappointed in this response re the media request on Reform.
Also questioning whether "MN surfing" is a reasonably good use of my downtime.

LlttledrummergirI · 08/01/2026 15:23

I had a comment deleted and was given a naughty letter. Apparently calling the MAGA crowd paedophile apologists is not allowed.
To be fair, I stated it as a fact rather than my opinion.

That thread was horrific, and the family of Renee must be devastated that not only have they lost her to a pointless murder, but that she is being denigrated by the people who should have been protecting her.

SerendipityJane · 08/01/2026 15:45

I'd suspect that was "AI" driven by keywords.

LlttledrummergirI · 08/01/2026 15:47

Maybe. I hadn't considered that.

SerendipityJane · 08/01/2026 15:55

Once you realise there is no "I" in "AI" (much like there is no "I" in "team" 😀) then you have the keys to the kingdom, so to speak.

Imagine translating a French text (I was tempted to say French letter, but am so much better than that) into German using a French<->German dictionary whilst being unable to speak either language. A bystander who spoke neither languages would assume you understood what you were reading and invest billions in your company.
