I hope your cat is feeling better @ThatbloodyRoblox. I hate twelfth night, the house looks so drab with all the decorations gone.

This seems to be going well.

The temptation to NC and go on there praising Reform for all their racist, misogynistic and slightly creepy "policies" is great. I can picture the genuine Reform supporters having to pile in and say "No, Nigel isn't that racist"

The problem with Reform and polling is that it's impossible for pollsters to know if the person responding (a) has ever voted) and/or (b) will vote in the next election. And I suspect a tightly guarded number is the difference between the two.

pointythings · 06/01/2026 09:32

My cats send healing vibes too.

You do seem to have attracted a live one on your Farage thread @SerendipityJane. Seems to be aware of all the Kremlin talking points and not much else.

It's always telling when posters demand the OP explain themselves. And amusing.

Makes up for the threads I post on that get pulled.

Unsurprisingly really. The Telegraph’s Tory to the core subscribers tend not to have much time for Reform.

LittleBowSheep · 06/01/2026 12:00

Even more snow here. I'm starting to feel like I'm living in the Alps.

SerendipityJane · 06/01/2026 12:06

We had a couple of cm of snow last night. Today is again brilliant blue sky ... fifth day running.and temperature has just reached 1.1C

Cheguevarahamster · 06/01/2026 12:31

It's making a feeble attempt to snow in South London.

You're in North Wales aren't you? Bugger all here in South Wales. Just cold.

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2026 13:04

Clear blue skies when I left the house. Lightly snowing when I came back another couple of hours later. Made my sunglasses look ridiculous but I couldnt take them off (prescription lenses).

The Times is pretending that dynamic alignment with the EU on food standards etc is a threat to sovereignty.

Even more irritatingly it's also pretending that Brexit has only damaged GDP by 4% - the NBER report made it clear that it reduced GDP by 6-8%.

pointythings · 06/01/2026 13:14

It's gone grey here. I reckon we will have more snow.

cardibach · 06/01/2026 13:42

Grey here in SEWales but the temp has made it to the giddy heights of 5. I have bought new thermals and a massive cuddly fleece (and had a haircut). The fight back against the cold is going well.

But surely Brexit was only every going to increase GDP ?

Aren't the The Times now just"arguing over the price" (to coin a phrase 😎...) with Project Fear ?

Excellent Cardi hope you are feeling ok as you can be.
another one south east London, it freezing a very slight snow flurry earlier was brilliant sunshine & blue sky now very grey the ice hasn’t defrosted off the cars for days pavements very slippery.
Belated new year wishes for everyone, I’ve had some sort of cough lurgy had very little sleep & my ribs feel are very sore feeling decidedly sorry for myself.
Roblox really hope poor old cat is feeling better.

LlttledrummergirI · 06/01/2026 13:59

Snow just over the border in England. Just a sprinkling, but enough to make driving to work interesting.

Yeah. Its taken a while for the Times to accept any significant damage to GDP due to Brexit.

I imagine their editorial team typed 4% begrudgingly and then prayed that readers didn't bother to read beyond the headline (which my Dad won't).

So now they accept there is damage, but we have to pursue it anyway ?

Are you sure it's "The Times" and not a Viz spoof ?

Next week (presumably serialised to allow their readers to ask someone to explain) "The Times guide to getting out of holes. Part #1 - Buy a shovel".

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2026 14:22

"Next week (presumably serialised to allow their readers to ask someone to explain) "The Times guide to getting out of holes. Part #1 - Buy a shovel".

They don't want the shovel if it means buying it from the EU.
They reject your foreign shovels. They'd rather stay in the hole.

You may have missed the joke ? Although you are of course quite correct too.

(The Times advice on hole escaping seems to be "dig deeper")

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2026 14:25

In fact they'd rather stay in the hole they dug and blame the young/old/disabled for the existence of the hole.

Notonthestairs · 06/01/2026 14:26

I did miss it! I'm too annoyed by the ongoing drama llama-ness of the editorial team.

And before any of them non-American foreigners. Except for Americans who don't like Trump They too have a seat reserved on the train (we can only hope Reforms policies rely on Southern Rail).
