A chat thread for those who don't like this Labour government. 💙

The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.

We're just off to watch an aircraft carrier (Prince of Wales) returning to Portsmouth, so I'm putting LK into record to watch later. (It's going to be freezing hanging around in a boat on the Solent.🥶)

In the meantime, there's this article by Dan Hodges. What surprises me is no-one is mentioning the depressive effect of the delayed Budget on the general public together with the flattened retail trade in the run-up to Christmas.

Reeves will be lucky if only punishment for this deceit is losing job

This morning, there's a debate raging about whether Rachel Reeves can survive the revelation that she deliberately lied to the voters, the markets and Parliament.

😬🤣

Shame for Labour that they pretended to be a party of integrity really!

Starmer is going to ‘address the nation’ over the budget and back Reeves. Tomorrow apparently.

He really is bad at reading the room, he’ll make things worse for Labour.

If I hear Reeves say one more time ‘I wont apologise’ (for purportedly trying to reduce child poverty) - when nobody has asked her to, I will scream.

How about not lying, leaking or crying, Chancellor? That would be a good start.
Stop deflecting, and fucking own it.

God, I despise her.

Arrogant, mendacious, self-pitying.

Legolava · 30/11/2025 09:12

Their panicked speeches make everything worse. They are worried now. They know that everyone is against them (bar the same 5 people on mn). They have annoyed everyone. Welfare and the amount that is really available is front and centre now. Workers have been taxed and lied to, to pay for it. They are cooked and they know it.

Yep. Totally. It’s the worst approach and they’re cooked.

@CambridgeSingers power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. I don't trust anyone in power no one is immune to various forms of corruption !
I also like the tony benn quote ,who are they, how did they get power and how do we get rid of them.

The left run on a badge of being morally superior.
I hope the young see the absolute fallacy of this.

GroundZero · 30/11/2025 09:18

How does Reeves plan to measure how successful her lifting children out of poverty has been?

Via the same methodology re the funds derived from PS VAT and allocated to the state sector? Oh, wait.

That Tony Benn quote is bang on. Never has it been more relevant, than now.

60% of people who get cb are working !!

Laura said but they will be paying higher taxes too

40% not working with kids is a hell of a lot ??

justasking111 · Today 18:37
Son came out of a swimming competition this afternoon

How did he get on?

Was my grandson. Came third in one race I'm told

TheRubyRedshoes · 30/11/2025 09:22

Omg she said an NHS nurse told her stop child poverty because we get kids in living in mold and respiratory issues.
So she said her benefit cap will stop that ??

TheRubyRedshoes · 30/11/2025 09:23

I wish Lara would ask her how child benefit cap will stop mold.

Oh on VAT.
Eton has claimed back over £4M in historic VAT since Jan 25. That's 1 x school. So when Labour claim they have "raised more than expected", again they are lying.
25K pupils left Vs 3K predicted in 1st year
Schools claiming back VAT in the £millions (which was NEVER accounted for in the initial figures)

It's really not hard to see an overall loss to the taxpayer.

Only 37% of Universal Credit claimants work. I think that's more shocking.

I think the CB figure might be a bit misleading, as it's likely to go to the SAHP, so it doesn't mean nobody in the house is working. Our CB goes to DH as he was the SAHP when the kids were little and I wanted him to have the NI stamp.

GroundZero · 29/11/2025 22:06

I genuinely think Reeves goes next week.

Evidently it’s a fast-developing story.

If they sack her now, they're admitting that the budget they allowed her to work on for months within a team remember and the OBR was a complete cluster fuck that Starmer allowed.

Starmer would have had banks, business industry advising him, there's no way he isn't culpable too.

They’re tied together. He knows it hence the extra speech.

She goes, he does.

I can't work out whether Labour MPs are happy with the budget or not. I bet their inboxes are heaving with complaints, could shift the dial.

Unfortunately my MP is as thick as mince.

Ok then why don't even one of these Labour resign the Party Whip and sit as an'independent' MP. They, are gutless and frightened of the Unions or what jobs they will get when its over for them.

Most of them have never earned this much money in their lives re salary and perks. They're gonna milk that cow dry
